kimono as a sorta not-quite roxy music cover from a not-quite roxy music band. propaganda and big beat are great also.

kimono as not-quite-roxy is great

halfway through the arduous c&p I realised that taken together these weren't quite as uniformly amazing as I remembered, but I still think these guys have a lot of gr8 covers

also I have to say I have a soft spot for balls

w⚓f♠ (wins), Saturday, 8 June 2013 02:33 (twelve years ago)

Voted for Pulling Rabbits. I'm a sucker for hand puppets.

kimono, propaganda, or in outer space

brimstead, Saturday, 8 June 2013 03:28 (twelve years ago)

like I say I personally like balls but in general their gs&sv&onwards renaissance isn't that well-represented by the covers

I love the big beat cover but don't particularly love big beat

w⚓f♠ (wins), Saturday, 8 June 2013 03:35 (twelve years ago)

Propaganda wins

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Saturday, 8 June 2013 04:09 (twelve years ago)

propaganda is one of the best covers ever imo

christmas candy bar (al leong), Saturday, 8 June 2013 04:24 (twelve years ago)

i'm stubbornly attached to the discreet cover

softspool, Saturday, 8 June 2013 04:54 (twelve years ago)

er, the *indiscreet* cover

softspool, Saturday, 8 June 2013 04:56 (twelve years ago)

always loved indiscreet, too

chinavision!, Saturday, 8 June 2013 04:57 (twelve years ago)

russell's "injured" pose is kind of amazing

chinavision!, Saturday, 8 June 2013 04:59 (twelve years ago)

Indiscreet, Propaganda or Whomp That Sucker might get my vote.

Has an actual Sparks albums poll been done before?

Fun to imagine these as Hall & Oates covers.

weird, the copy I have of the first album has completely different art

anyway Propaganda, no contest

Bathory Tub Blues (Shakey Mo Collier), Saturday, 8 June 2013 17:36 (twelve years ago)

oh yeah they released it twice, once as halfnelson & once as sparks. I guess I included the wrong one

w⚓f♠ (wins), Saturday, 8 June 2013 17:44 (twelve years ago)

Regarding "introducing"..

It does look like Russell is 'dressed up as' Ron, is it?

Mark G, Saturday, 8 June 2013 19:05 (twelve years ago)

he's "doing" ron for sure

^realise that sounds icky but they posed as a fkn married couple so

w⚓f♠ (wins), Saturday, 8 June 2013 19:09 (twelve years ago)

Then again, the pic on the other side looks like Russell doing Russell so maybe.. Unless Ron doing Russell didn't work so they sacked it.

Mark G, Saturday, 8 June 2013 19:15 (twelve years ago)

propaganda if you include the back cover and insert as well.

wk, Sunday, 9 June 2013 17:10 (twelve years ago)

if not, then maybe indiscreet

wk, Sunday, 9 June 2013 17:10 (twelve years ago)

Yeah, propaganda is the one..

A friend of mine recognised the petrol station as one local to him, and did ask Russell if it was. It wasn't.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Kimono and Propaganda are both classic, but I'm voting Indiscreet. My favorite musically too, and bonus points for the grocery shopping gatefold.
