Listening to the new Daft Punk album reminded me that despite the record not being some transcendent hype exceeding nirvana experience, it was meticulously produced and sounds gorgeous, and I would play a few songs to test out various stereos or components. Previously, Welcome to the Machine would be my go to among others because of that great crystalline guitar coupled with the earth shattering bass of that Moog. What about you?

i always tested with various steve albini-recorded stuff, blessed black wings and the blackened air were good ones.

the last time I did this I brought a Gastr Del Sol 7" on Teenbeat, a Thelonious Monk promo pressing, and a Hirsche Nicht Aufs Sofa album. I could probably get by with those three again.

I've had to buy new equipment so infrequently that I don't have an official thing for this scenario.
Though I did blow a speaker a week ago (running guitar pickup through my mixer without considering the ramifications of such a setup). So, who knows. It will probably be something stupid like a Cure 45 or some nonsense.

Re-remastered Abbey Road sounds nice. Or "The Doorway" off Neurosis Times of Grace.

What album would be good to test out my new stereo setup?
