does it count as "straight white male music" if a SWM is the drummer or bassist in an otherwise female-dominated band? some of my favorite bands (Lush, Kenickie, Throwing Muses, The Slits) employ SWMs as sidemen, and I wouldn't want to understate their achievements. I can also think of a lot of non-SWM acts with SWM producers or engineers or guest singers (Brett Anderson is *great* on the two Stina Nordenstam tracks he appears on) — do those "count" for the purpose of this thread? I mean it's 2013 and you'd think there'd be a ton of awesome all-SWM bands out there, but they still tend to be crappy novelty acts that people only pay attention to because of who's in the band. Wire? Rush? ZZ Top? 3 entries in and my list already smacks of tokenism.
