Yet another record I can see myself playing quite a bit this year... basically, they take krautrock-ish grooves, and overlay them with samples from old public information films/archive material/propaganda material etc. and occasionally dig out a banjo every now and then. I don't know if they'll be able to keep up this sound for long before diminishing returns sets in, but for now this is really hitting the spot for me! A great deal of fun.

Yeah, this is really musical and rewarding, and amazingly catchy too. Enjoying it a lot.

I tried listening to that song but I wasn't really into it at all, sounded like a cross between a Lightning Seeds b-side and a Keep Calm & Carry On t-shirt.

Really? I don't get any sort of Lightning Seeds vibe from any of this!

Singles pulled off the album irritated me. Album altogether is really good though.

It's really not Mumford.

I saw them live a couple of months ago and it was immensely entertaining.

nine months pass...

Just stumbled on this. Had I just read the description, I never would have bothered to follow up. It's really wonderful. Occasionally reminds me a bit of a less organic "Every Man and Woman is a Star" by Ultramarine.

new single is awful. like Belle & Sebastian doing a Negativland tribute album.

That sounds GREAT, but I'll bet you're right.

NO CLOO (I M Losted), Tuesday, 17 February 2015 18:59 (eleven years ago)

I haven't heard it, but they're not the type of band that I'd expect to have a long career, that's for sure.

You’re being too simplistic and you’re insulting my poor heart (Turrican), Thursday, 19 February 2015 23:02 (eleven years ago)
