a few months ago the complete beastie boys discography appeared in my "cloud player" for no reason at all

Well, my Kraftwerk 'black box' set didn't appear, although all the individual albums seem eligible.
Still, can't complain about that one, really...
― Mark G, Thursday, 27 June 2013 16:08 (twelve years ago)
Thanks, AutoRip, for the digital copies of the horrible, horrible albums I have purchased as gifts for my parents!
― Your Favorite Album in the Cutout Bin, Thursday, 27 June 2013 16:41 (twelve years ago)
ha, yeah that's what my experience has been. though not all of them are horrible.
― tylerw, Thursday, 27 June 2013 16:43 (twelve years ago)
Yep, awating my unwanted "Soldiers singing" set..
― Mark G, Thursday, 27 June 2013 16:53 (twelve years ago)

you must have said to yourself 'thank christ for the boob'
― dschinghis kraan (NickB), Thursday, 27 June 2013 17:13 (twelve years ago)
Lol that sucks. were you buying from Amazon direct (meaning, not Amazon doing prime shipping for a marketplace seller)?
Most all of mine went to Cloud Player, which is convenient as I lose my physical cds all the time. have now burned several backup copies of Repulsion's Horrified.
― Neanderthal, Thursday, 27 June 2013 17:22 (twelve years ago)
Nothing turning up yet..
― Mark G, Friday, 28 June 2013 08:31 (twelve years ago)
I've always had this vague feeling that I've ordered stuff I never received but I'm too lazy to actually look into it. But now there are a couple of albums in my cloud player which I'm pretty sure I don't have but I know I did order. I guess at least I can listen to them now.
― wk, Friday, 28 June 2013 09:16 (twelve years ago)
If you kept the Amazon emails then you can search your inbox for if/when they were received.

I don't remember buying The Human League's Reproduction in 2007 but apparently I did and that's now in my Cloud Player. Nothing else though.
― Michael Jones, Friday, 28 June 2013 09:24 (twelve years ago)
13 albums for me, score!
― Neil S, Friday, 28 June 2013 09:28 (twelve years ago)
There's an "Amazon Order History" drop-down which works quite well (mainly because I haven't ordered a lot over the years)
― Mark G, Friday, 28 June 2013 09:29 (twelve years ago)
oop, we have action!
Chelsea Pensioners - "Men in Scarlet"The Soldiers - "Letter Home"Christina Aguilera - "Keeps gettin' better: A Decade of Hits"Love "Forever Changes - Alternate Mix and Outtakes"
Thank you Soooooooh much!
― Mark G, Friday, 28 June 2013 09:34 (twelve years ago)
Turns out I haven't bought any music from Amazon since 2007 and none of the CDs I ordered in 2005-06 are in the Cloud Player, although some are AutoRip.
― Michael Jones, Friday, 28 June 2013 09:51 (twelve years ago)
It seems to have confused The Velvet Underground's Peel Slowly & See boxset (which I bought many years ago off Amazon) with the new 45th Deluxe VU & Nico boxset, which I don't have... Amazing.
― random access maladies (hypehat), Friday, 28 June 2013 10:40 (twelve years ago)
Thanks for saving me £60, Amazon!
― random access maladies (hypehat), Friday, 28 June 2013 10:41 (twelve years ago)
Will have to see if the Nilsson box (17 Cd albums) comes down when it gets issued/mailed.
― Mark G, Friday, 28 June 2013 11:28 (twelve years ago)
Just went there to look, nothing other than a few rubbishy free download compilations & the one mp3-only album I've ever bought from Amazon...then 1 min later got an email saying 31 albums had been added & sure enough a whole bunch of stuff has appeared, including a pre-ordered CD that isn't due out for a while. Result-ish!
― Wandering Boy Poet, Friday, 28 June 2013 12:27 (twelve years ago)
My dad's account has some bizarre collections in there with cds bought by myself him & mymum. Burning Witch next to Subo lol
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 28 June 2013 14:01 (twelve years ago)
Huh, I don't have anything there, not even things I've bought as mp3 on Amazon (though I think those were all bought with those free download vouchers they gave out a couple of Christmases ago, so maybe they don't count).
I suppose most of my purchases were either through Marketplace or in the old 3-for-£10 sales, but I'm still surprised nothing at all is showing up.
― slippery kelp on the tide (a passing spacecadet), Friday, 28 June 2013 14:07 (twelve years ago)
Some really old purchases are there like Shalabi Effect, Molasses, Masters Of Reality
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 28 June 2013 14:11 (twelve years ago)
OK, I went back and I have 16 albums there now. Woohoo, free stuff! Woohoo, stuff I actually bought for other people (shh, don't tell Amazon or the record labels)!
― slippery kelp on the tide (a passing spacecadet), Friday, 28 June 2013 14:23 (twelve years ago)
yeah it took a while for everything to load up
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 28 June 2013 14:25 (twelve years ago)
Well, considering 98% of my purchases from Amazon over the years have been used items, this is completely disappointing.
― Austin, Friday, 28 June 2013 14:51 (twelve years ago)
Got an email saying there are 81 albums there, but when I log in there are only 2. This is sad-making.
― ornamental cabbage (James Morrison), Friday, 12 July 2013 03:01 (twelve years ago)
wow i hope this means we all finally get all the stuff we bought here Absolutely Fucking Amazing Amazon Sale (US Posters Only)
― Doctor Casino, Friday, 12 July 2013 03:16 (twelve years ago)
OK, never seen that thread before, but that was hilarious
― ornamental cabbage (James Morrison), Friday, 12 July 2013 03:42 (twelve years ago)
I actually "wasn't there," but I think reading that thread was a key ILX coming-of-age moment for me.
― Doctor Casino, Friday, 12 July 2013 03:52 (twelve years ago)
All that excitement and greed and desire and hope and tension and worry and at the end of it someone got a Fiery Furnaces single for $4.
― ornamental cabbage (James Morrison), Friday, 12 July 2013 04:48 (twelve years ago)
new board description
― Doctor Casino, Friday, 12 July 2013 05:08 (twelve years ago)
I remember it well. I remember a few years later getting the Sun Records box set for like £5 from Amazon and so did a few other lucky punters, and the US posters were a bit jealous
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 12 July 2013 08:03 (twelve years ago)
Oh cool, the Pink Floyd remasters box set I bought for my dad is there! And so is the other gift I got him, the timeless "BLAST LIVE" by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers!
― bizarro gazzara, Friday, 12 July 2013 09:25 (twelve years ago)
I just tried this Amazon Cloud Player and amusingly it's adding albums I didn't buy off Amazon but presumably must've ticked the "I own this" box at some point.

I occasionally check in there and, nope, it's still just that one Human League album.
― Michael Jones, Thursday, 22 August 2013 09:22 (twelve years ago)
I mean, I do own Sebadoh vs Helmet but I bought that 2nd hand in the 90s.
Amazon also thinks I've bought The Day The Country Died by the Subhumans on vinyl. I have that on CD, and I didn't get that from Amazon either.

Not related to the cloudplayer but I purchased an album a couple of weeks ago, it downloaded but they haven't taken payment. I got a message to say they were going to try again, or I could correct it but nothing so far. I've never downloaded from Amazon before, anyone else had this happen?
― mmmm, Thursday, 22 August 2013 10:20 (twelve years ago)
I plumped for premium because it looked like it gave me an easy to use interface for streaming now options I had used before like subsonic went wrong. Uploading is very, very temperamental - the first pass it only found 11k songs which went on fine, then found another 12k which it went into a 'matching' loop with and failed completely. I'm now on a new tactic involving copying stuff momentarily onto the C drive - the player really can't cope with being asked to deal with a portable drive - which seems to be working out, if kind of time consuming.
― Troughton-masked Replicant (aldo), Thursday, 22 August 2013 11:00 (twelve years ago)
Yes, same here--still only 2 albums showing up, despite the email they sent me saying some 80+ CDs I had bought were eligible
