The song was written and sung by Pete Ham and produced by George Harrison,[1] who plays some of the slide guitar parts of the song along with Ham.

35. swirly guitar arpeggio on Cream's "Badge." The part that sounds the most like Harrison isn't Harrison, and the part that sounds least like him -- the rhythm chank -- is him.

Me too, though it sounds slightly "Beatle"ized, crafted to fit the band, but still Clapton...

Clapton wanted a more "Beatley" sound, so the solo was run through an ADT circuit with engineer Chris Thomas manually 'waggling' the oscillator: "apparently Eric said that he didn't want it to sound like him. So I was just sitting there wobbling the thing, they wanted it really extreme, so that's what I did"

The effect is far more pronounced on the mono mix:

I think I read elsewhere that big stars under contract weren't allowed to play on other people's records, that's why there was no credit given here or elsewhere. I think George and others may have used funny pseudonyms from time to time, maybe to play on things like Dylan's "If Not For You"?

Harrison's expression as Perkins blasts off is priceless.

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 7 July 2013 05:42 (eleven years ago) link

George seems vastly happier and more engaged in those Perkins clips than in any other Harrison footage (performance or interview) from the 80s or 90s.
