it's a testament to the quality of the material and the writing that i think the album succeeds in spite of what i feel are gin's limitations as a singer - the thinness of his voice, maybe a lack of emotional range. i do think he comes through though and he sells shit like "so anxious" really well...shit, all of these singles are just amazing. some of timbaland's best work imo. maybe the best interlude-heavy album i've ever heard, if that makes sense

Great album. Will probably go for none of ur friends business/interlude but might have to listen to it again before voting. Agree that a lot of Timbaland's best work is on here.

I saw Ginuwine play between Jagged Edge and R. Kelly some many years ago - I want to say 2003? It was well past his peak, but he was sooo good I can still remember the show.

You could describe his voice as a lot of things but it certainly isn't thin.

'do u remember' for sounding like you left your cell phone on your discman and including Timbo scratching in 'flash's theme' for the climactic moment and the skit in the middle ("i told you he's an ENTERTAINER he's NO GOOD!")

G's voice is not thin, he was a proto-MMTS vibrato monster

Yeah from memory I think "Do You Remember" is gonna be the one.

I think "What's So Different?" is the only Ginuwine song I like without reservation

the biggest one is that I really hate almost everything about Ginuwine, from the songwriting to his voice

and even with that I still like a couple of his songs but I find "What's So Different?" to be an undeniable jam

got this whole album on vinyl for $8 at academy records a few months back, almost wholly justified moving to brooklyn

still prefer "Differences" to "What's So Different." He should've commissioned a series.

"none of ur friends business" has always been my favorite on this, guitar during the chorus (which is like 32 bars itself) is so rad

then "so anxious", there's something about how that song quivers in a way that's not overt that i love

then "final warning"... kinda takes that same guitar tone from "none of ur friends business" and amps it up. plus the phone ring & the quote of "are you that somebody"

then "do you remember" for obv reasons, when the music slices into the spoken word bridge >>>>>>>>

i always loved "two sides to a story"... there's something very smooth (almost generic) about the melody of that hook that works on this album

the same goes for "all nite all day"... it's almost like ginuwine doing a maxwell record

"i know" is cool

"#1 fan" is the only one i don't really fuck w/ tho i also don't usually listen to "she's out of my life"
