to start: both were seen as groundbreaking moves in an image way (whitney in leather vs xtina in ass chaps) and in a sonic way (both moving from diva pop to something with 'edge,' in whitney's case midtempo '80s pop-funk and in xtina's case redman and blorps). to continue: vocal tics v v v similar, particularly on overdubs during choruses. to finish: does this mean xtina will be wandering around a mall in ten years, shoplifting all the delia's-gear she can find?
