We polled Iron Maiden vs Judas Priest. It was a hard decision. But even harder is - whom do you prefer between Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford? In considering this, you should include their side projects and solo work as well...and just what you think of their voice.

Halford. The first metal vocalist I truly loved. Bruce is better at this point, but Rob is the Metal God.

Feel like I go back and forth on this all the time. Definitely OTM that Bruce is leaps and bounds the better vocalist now, but Halford did some truly crazy things vocally in his prime. always loved Bruce but sometimes his bleating grates on me.

no idea how I'm gonna lean on this one!

I'm voting Minnesota too, because I can't choose between them.

Ha, I'd vote D'Ianno if Minnesota weren't on there

I've never really liked Halford voice
Dickinson is oddly fascinating to me, y'know fencing, pilting planes, writing rauchy novels, etc

Halford's probably more fun to hang out with though

Halford, baby. Though I don't think these two actually have much in common as vocalists. Very different personalities.

Tough, tough call. Halford is technically a stronger singer, and his non-Priest projects (Fight and Halford, I don't care much for Two) are better than Dickinson's solo albums (I've never heard him with Samson). On the other hand, circa-2013 Bruce is a much more entertaining and charismatic performer than circa-2013 Halford, who's packed on the pounds and compounds that by wearing 600 pounds of studded leather, so he basically stands still for an entire song, walks back and forth to do between song banter, and stays rooted to whatever spot he ends up in when the next song begins. But I still vote Halford.

disagree strongly - I love Priest but Halford's voice just doesn't have the depth of Dickinson's. Dickinson's vibrato >>> Halford's for sure.

tight in the runs (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Saturday, 27 July 2013 02:42 (twelve years ago)

I voted Halford, mostly cuz of his awesome shrieketto in his prime, though on any other given day of the week, it could be Dickinson.
