mike (ro)bott, Wednesday, 9 October 2002 20:52 (twenty-three years ago)

chilton's 'with a girl like you' cover is good too but it'd be hard to ruin that song as long as the bahbahbaaahbaaaaahs are left intact.

brian badword (badwords), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 21:00 (twenty-three years ago)

gygax!, Wednesday, 9 October 2002 22:17 (twenty-three years ago)

"Our Lips Are Sealed" is a neat one since it's not *exactly* a cover as Terry Hall of Fun Boy Three co-wrote it. It's more like a difference of opinion.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 22:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Dino Jr.-"Just Like Heaven" is pretty cool.

Kim; right -- I guess the same could be said for Iggy's version of China Girl.

Jody; right, the Feelies version is great, too. You know, i think the Flamin' Groovies also have a version that's pretty slick.

christoff (christoff), Thursday, 10 October 2002 12:13 (twenty-three years ago)

always liked the Scrawl cover of Cold-hearted snake

H (Heruy), Thursday, 10 October 2002 12:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Mike Appelstein (mike a), Thursday, 10 October 2002 19:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Never released commercially, and we'd had a bit of the white wine by the time it came on TV, so we might have imagined it, but: Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" performed by Des O'Connor with backing vocals by Bros, circa 1988. I never knew that our jaws could drop so far and for so long. It's safe to say it was rather different from the Red Hot Chili Peppers' take on the same song.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 11 October 2002 14:15 (twenty-three years ago)

twenty-two years pass...

Was looking for a thread to revive where you could post suggestions for Chris L.'s cover polls. There are 30 million threads on ILM with "cover" in the title; waded through 10 or so screens, and I'll go with this one over "Worthwhile Covers" and "Underappreciated Covers."

Two favourites:
