Confession time:

Breaking my full-time lurker mode, I feel I must apologise to Tom & you all for holding up the return of 102 Beats That. It's all my fault! I've got a million excuses if you want 'em [new baby etc etc], but I haven't heard from the person who was to send me a copy of Only Child's 'Satellites And Constellations' to review for a looooong time. If anyone can send me a copy [I'm in NZ & unable to d/l, unwilling to drop import price dollars [that's if I can find the CD here!], I'll get my review in quicksmart & send you something nice in return!

Honest!

Please let me know.

Bill E (bill_e), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 20:45 (twenty-three years ago)

It's not your fault, Bill. I've yet to turn mine in, and I've had my tape for months! This weekend! There, it's in print.

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 01:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Psst.... Me too. I've had my material downloaded for ages. I'm just waiting for the "Shame on you - you and your lazy ilk are ruining everything" e-mail from Mssr. Ewing. Actually I'm quite sure it will be more pleasant than that. So Tom? When?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 01:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes! And when is the Focus Group due to be posted? Have I missed it?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 02:30 (twenty-two years ago)

You THINK it's your fault, but it's really MY fault. I'm slacker than all y'all.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 02:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I never got an answer from the guy who was supposed to review my choice and I never reviewed the mp3 I had to. Sorry...

alex in mainhattan (alex63), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 04:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I have been v. slack abt this too.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 05:58 (twenty-two years ago)

No, it's my fault!

DV and rener were very happy that they got their second reviews in before heading off to the Lebanon to be chained to a radiator for seven years.

(PS tigerclawskank - this means I still have your Eurovision comp)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 08:15 (twenty-two years ago)

get on with it you lazy bums!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 08:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Focus Group is almost finished - more respondents than ever = more work so I've skimped on the graphix (also I'm not as good with HTML as Mike is!). End of this week, fingers crossed.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 08:20 (twenty-two years ago)

WRONG, 106 Beats That.

mt, Wednesday, 9 October 2002 11:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, the name is a reference to the Wire track 106 Beats That. Your point?

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 11:56 (twenty-two years ago)

perharps mt just wanted to show us his 'vast' knowledge.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 12:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Believe it or not, the fact that I still have to write my 102 words on jimmythemod's choice often weighs on my mind. I have the track and everything. I too was waiting for an 'oi- hurry up' email.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Oi! Hurry up Nick!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

mia culpa.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I just read mine over (on Lali Puna) and I like it. I like it more than my LtE capsule, but not as much as I like my LtE full review, ahem ahem...

david h (david h), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, so I no longer feel as ashamed

So can anyone hook me up with a copy of Only Child's 'Satellites And Constellations'? Or can I just make it up based on what I think it would sound like?

Bill E (bill_e), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Sooo, for 102 Beats pt II, is there a ballpark deadline???

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

last June!

Jeff W, Thursday, 10 October 2002 07:42 (twenty-two years ago)

In the year 2525.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 10 October 2002 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

This thread pisses me off because I strategically decided to do 102 Beats That as opposed to the Focus Group, whereas in fact I could have easily done both late it seems.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 10 October 2002 13:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Alas yes. Basically what's happened with FT recently is that the nature of my job has changed from boring but no work therefore lots of editing time to interesting but tons of work therefore much less editing time. Longer term projects like 102 and the FG have suffered more. Basically where FT is concerned, if the piece isn't on the site you haven't missed the deadline (the Focus Group is a partial exception to this).

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 10 October 2002 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Also you have your meeja career to think of now. It's all photoshoots and PAs for Tom now.

Graham (graham), Thursday, 10 October 2002 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom and Geri!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 October 2002 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I listened to Gastr del Sol's "Camofleur" a bunch of times, and almost had the response written up. But then I didn't. It's all my fault, too.

Dare, Thursday, 10 October 2002 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah i missed the focus group deadline and didnt know that i could've sent it months late, oh well.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 10 October 2002 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

four months pass...
Yo! The deadline for 102 Beats That entries is TODAY! Send 'em in, folks! (I only bring this up because I just finished mine & sent it to Mr. Ewing.) (The time is 4:32 AM EST, BTW.)

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 7 March 2003 09:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes what David says!

Tom (Groke), Friday, 7 March 2003 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Jesus H. Christ, how close are we to getting them all in? Lazy fuckers.

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 7 March 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Mine will be in by mindnight EST!

Mark (MarkR), Friday, 7 March 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Wasn't this due last June?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 7 March 2003 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Shame on you people who haven't sent in your entries yet!

(I just sent mine five minutes ago.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 7 March 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

It's been so long I can't even recall if I sent mine. I think so.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 March 2003 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I wrote an e-mail to the ftrig address via NYPLM but got no reply --- did anyone ever get my review?????? PLease answer!

1 1 2 3 5 (Fivvy), Friday, 7 March 2003 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I just sent mine. C'mon you laggards!

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 7 March 2003 20:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Mine is in, finally.

Mark (MarkR), Saturday, 8 March 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I sent mine to the ftrig address last night.

RickyT (RickyT), Saturday, 8 March 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Heelo 1 1 2 3 5 I think I have yours but it wouldnt hurt to send again - just checked my email, sorry!

Tom (Groke), Saturday, 8 March 2003 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

D'you still have mine, Tom? Now that's what I call pompous. Mine, that is.

Cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 8 March 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I sent mine ages ago!

(focus group?)

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 8 March 2003 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I've not deleted anybody's I don't think. I'm going to put up a big list of everyone who actually sent one in when I've finished coding them all. The focus group comes first though.

Tom (Groke), Saturday, 8 March 2003 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, by my count I have 45 out of 72 second-round entries. Some of the posters to this VERY THREAD are not among them! :)

They are really good. Get yours in please if you haven't done so - even if we've had to make a review up and we get your 'real' one we'll use yours instead.

Tom (Groke), Saturday, 8 March 2003 19:40 (twenty-two years ago)

you got mine, right?

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 8 March 2003 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

you got mine, right?

jess (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 8 March 2003 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes.

OK people whose reviews I have got =

mark richardson, edward o, nick, ricky t, andrew farrell, dan perry, David R, Jimmy Mod, jel, michael bourke, honda, curtis gould, tim h, julio, jess, mike daddino, graham, sam chirombo, marcello, dominique, tim f, o. nate, mark s, j.lu, l tuersley, douglas wolk, rosemary, cozen, john kube, jeff w, simon larsen, rener, DV, bnw, Dave Berry, fred s, sterling, sean c, matos, dave ungar, vinnie prabhu, wisdom goof, dr c and I know that 1 1 2 3 5's review is on its way and my review is there.

If your name isn't on this list then either:

- you haven't written it.
- you sent it and I deleted it by mistake (sorry) (but v unlikely cos I delete nothing)
- you sent it and I have not found it because it doesn't have '102' in the subject header
- you sent it to an address other than btconnect.com or netcomuk.co.uk, eg my work address

Please say if you fall into any of these categories!

Tom (Groke), Saturday, 8 March 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

DV if you're reading could you email the Franks' APA list - I think Marc G and Doktor Pete and maybe a couple of others may need reminding?

OK I have to go offline now or Isabel will murder me. More updates later (unless I have been murdered).

Tom (Groke), Saturday, 8 March 2003 19:51 (twenty-two years ago)

(oh no SOMEONE CALL THE POLICE)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 8 March 2003 20:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Seriously, this is getting worrying.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 9 March 2003 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't kill Tom Ewing.

Graham (graham), Sunday, 9 March 2003 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't get murdered.

Pete's entry has now been accounted for!

Tom (Groke), Monday, 10 March 2003 00:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I think if the rest don't come in relatively soon, we should farm the rest out to chaki, which would result in the BEST FEATURE EVAH.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 10 March 2003 00:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Er, I haven't done mine. A thousand apologies to all. I could bore you with excuses but I won't.

If someone would like to/could do it instead, please be my guest.

Bill E (bill_e), Monday, 10 March 2003 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I will send mine in soon. I swear. Really!

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 10 March 2003 15:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess I didn't send one? Jeez. Uh, Tom, can you remind me what I was supposed to be listening to?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 March 2003 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom - Can you post a list of what you DON'T have reviews for yet? I would bet some of the original reviewers are long gone .. (I don't remember who was reviewing my record, but he never asked for a copy of it - so I'm guessing he never reviewed it.) Maybe some of the newer people could/wanna pick up the slack...

dave225 (Dave225), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Dave - yeah thats the next step.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll have my review in soon -- promise and threat.

Andy K (Andy K), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom . I've just mailed you mine.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Monday, 10 March 2003 22:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I BLAME NED

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 10 March 2003 23:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 March 2003 23:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 10 March 2003 23:42 (twenty-two years ago)
