I am imagine a 70s detective style b-movie revolving around people trying to steal the rarest disco 45 on earth, with a soundtrack full of music like that.

_Rudipherous_, Sunday, 28 July 2013 01:46 (twelve years ago)

-ing

_Rudipherous_, Sunday, 28 July 2013 01:46 (twelve years ago)

Not bad. Starts to sound almost harmolodic at about 2:20.

_Rudipherous_, Sunday, 28 July 2013 01:47 (twelve years ago)

here's the kicker: "disco mix by jimmy iovine"

scott seward, Sunday, 28 July 2013 01:51 (twelve years ago)

SO CONFUSE!

IIIrd Datekeeper (contenderizer), Sunday, 28 July 2013 01:59 (twelve years ago)

this is ace!

and "actual proof" is such a wicked name.

whateverface (c sharp major), Sunday, 28 July 2013 10:40 (twelve years ago)

Yeah, I like this. Were there a lot of disco records that sounded like this?

EveningStar (Sund4r), Sunday, 28 July 2013 10:55 (twelve years ago)

like super funky love boat disco

IIIrd Datekeeper (contenderizer), Sunday, 28 July 2013 11:22 (twelve years ago)

i put it on ebay five minutes after uploading the video. we'll see. it can be hard to be the pioneer who puts a single up that people haven't heard before. i will set the standard. got one bid already though. 125 youtube views. which is a good sign. unless that's just all ilm lurkers.

scott seward, Sunday, 28 July 2013 14:51 (twelve years ago)

how do you know this is the rarest disco 45 on earth?

fervently nice (Treeship), Sunday, 28 July 2013 14:53 (twelve years ago)

that's known as hyperbole. i can't find any reference to it though. no prior sales. no listings anywhere. which is a good thing. its hard to find things that don't exist in record-land.

scott seward, Sunday, 28 July 2013 14:56 (twelve years ago)

that doesn't always mean anything though. it could be well-known to hardcore disco collectors.

scott seward, Sunday, 28 July 2013 14:57 (twelve years ago)

If Scott says it is, then it is, woyeh.

Mark G, Sunday, 28 July 2013 14:57 (twelve years ago)

oh i thought it was well-known for only having one pressing or something. a unicorn

fervently nice (Treeship), Sunday, 28 July 2013 15:02 (twelve years ago)

nah, its just a ghost.

if you google this band and song-title you will only find my video for it. doesn't exist. i kept it though. i like it.

scott seward, Sunday, 28 July 2013 15:06 (twelve years ago)

confused now.

Mark G, Sunday, 28 July 2013 17:20 (twelve years ago)

confused how?

scott seward, Sunday, 28 July 2013 17:41 (twelve years ago)

i like this a lot. curious to see what you get for it!

illegalblues, Sunday, 28 July 2013 20:33 (twelve years ago)

i think you've hit on a great marketing strategy here, actually! Post youtubes of every nonexistent record you find, promote it, let the demand build up, and your store will have the only known slab of vinyl.

I have a promotional LP that includes a song I wrote - or at least is credited on the label as such (I wasn't present during the recording or involved in the production, and what made it to vinyl bears only a faint resemblance to what I wrote). A cover sleeve was never printed, just the disc. I think about 50 were pressed; I doubt anyone else saved it, and there's certainly no reference to it online. And given its quality, I hope it stays that way....

Lee626, Monday, 29 July 2013 01:12 (twelve years ago)

yeah, i don't wait long though. it would be smarter to have a youtube up for 6 months or so and post it everywhere that vinyl dudes might see it. but i'm impatient.

scott seward, Monday, 29 July 2013 01:33 (twelve years ago)

200 views just pretty much via ilm. i don't go to waxidermy or any of those places though.

scott seward, Monday, 29 July 2013 01:35 (twelve years ago)

wait no maria put it on store facebook too.

scott seward, Monday, 29 July 2013 01:50 (twelve years ago)

i can't find any reference to it though. no prior sales. no listings anywhere

I checked on Discogs and there's an extensive list of Mini Records releases but I note there are some catalogue numbers missing from the sequence. Perhaps they pressed up some copies of this record but then cancelled its release for some reason. What is the catalogue number of this one? (I can't read the text on the label in the video).

By the way, could I make a suggestion -- that you make your videos by taking a direct audio feed from the record deck/amp and then combining that with the video footage (rather than recording the audio through the mic on your phone). The quality would be better, although obviously it would entail more work combining the two signals in a video editing program.
