On 4 July 2013, Homme mentioned AM at the Rock for People festival in the Czech Republic: "I sang on the new Arctic Monkeys record. It’s a really cool, sexy after-midnight record. It’s called AM, so I guess that’s really obvious. And it’s really good. It’s really good. It’s not disco [as such], but it’s like a modern, dancefloor sexy record. It’s really good."

New songs "Do I Wanna Know" and "2013" have been compared to the edgier sound of The Black Keys, with "2013" in particular being compared to the song "Sinister Kid".

"Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" is a sleeper -- caught myself humming it this morning.

album is very nice

i like it. obvious dr dre influence on the first single. weird/cool to hear them doing R&B, wouldnt have minded them going a bit more full on with it. the drums sound a bit uniform across the whole album.

the second half of this album is really, really great

I love this, even the closing ballad with borrowed words. Only three meh to duds by my count.

i want to hear some R&B artists cover the final song with the (fabulous) borrowed words. cant help wondering if they were thinking of prince while recording it.

happy to see a positive consensus form around this album. I really like this, but I admit bias as I've liked all of their albums. This one might actually replace the debut as my favourite; something I never expected to happen.

KROQ has picked up "Do I Wanna Know?" and is a fantastic song, sounds really out of place but good over the airwaves.

i went searching on the internet to look for Yoenis Cespedes of the A's incredible throw that i have been hearing about and ran into this link. knowing that i'm only about 20 miles away only heighten my excitement, though i'm not there.

this album sounds great now. I'm tempted to call it their best.

agreed, it's those non-singles that make this album "Knee Socks" might be my favorite. we should poll this one day, would be hard for me to pick.

Humbug is the only album of theirs worth listening to, and even then that record pales in comparison to what other bands were offering at the time. The early stuff particularly is overrated tosh.

Maybe I'm the only man alive who prefers the second album to the debut.
