it has been awhile, quite like the single:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpOSxM0rNPM
On 4 July 2013, Homme mentioned AM at the Rock for People festival in the Czech Republic: "I sang on the new Arctic Monkeys record. It’s a really cool, sexy after-midnight record. It’s called AM, so I guess that’s really obvious. And it’s really good. It’s really good. It’s not disco [as such], but it’s like a modern, dancefloor sexy record. It’s really good."

i had reservations about starting a new thread as they are sort of overlooked here on ILM.

AM is the upcoming fifth poop by the English poop rock band Arctic Poopys. It will be released on 9 September 2013 on Poop Records.
― failed skirty tropes (Noodle Vague), Monday, 12 August 2013 15:47 (eleven years ago)
New songs "Do I Wanna Know" and "2013" have been compared to the edgier sound of The Black Keys, with "2013" in particular being compared to the song "Sinister Kid".
― ..it would have sounded about as heavy as Talulah Gosh. (Algerian Goalkeeper), Monday, 12 August 2013 15:49 (eleven years ago)
Homme mentioned AM at the Rock for People festival in the Czech Republic: "I sang on the new Arctic Poopys record, so at least there's one track that doesn't have that stupid whiny poop voice on it."
― failed skirty tropes (Noodle Vague), Monday, 12 August 2013 15:52 (eleven years ago)
hilarious

"Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" is a sleeper -- caught myself humming it this morning.

same with "do i wanna know"
album is very nice
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 04:12 (eleven years ago)
i like it. obvious dr dre influence on the first single. weird/cool to hear them doing R&B, wouldnt have minded them going a bit more full on with it. the drums sound a bit uniform across the whole album.
― StillAdvance, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 08:51 (eleven years ago)
this is way better than i was expecting
― cerealbar, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 16:55 (eleven years ago)
good record and i think this one will be huge for them, or at least much bigger than the last 2
― monotony, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 17:09 (eleven years ago)
Not bad at all. And Alex Turner's new 'do is dee-viine. He finally looks shaggable.

I rather liked his "23 year old hits the gym for the first time" look for the third album, but yeah, good look

Thought I'd had it with the AMs, but I really like this album a lot.

the second half of this album is really, really great

I love this, even the closing ballad with borrowed words. Only three meh to duds by my count.

I'm happy it's been their biggest hit in years here and in the UK.

i want to hear some R&B artists cover the final song with the (fabulous) borrowed words. cant help wondering if they were thinking of prince while recording it.
― StillAdvance, Sunday, 22 September 2013 09:04 (eleven years ago)
Turner's said this is their RnB record.
― they all are afflicted with a sickness of existence (Scik Mouthy), Monday, 23 September 2013 05:40 (eleven years ago)
half of it is - i wish they went all the way with it...
― StillAdvance, Monday, 23 September 2013 17:19 (eleven years ago)
happy to see a positive consensus form around this album. I really like this, but I admit bias as I've liked all of their albums. This one might actually replace the debut as my favourite; something I never expected to happen.
― arctic mindbath (President of the People's Republic of Antarctica), Monday, 14 October 2013 16:08 (eleven years ago)
KROQ has picked up "Do I Wanna Know?" and is a fantastic song, sounds really out of place but good over the airwaves.
― Bee OK, Tuesday, 15 October 2013 01:06 (eleven years ago)
fair play to them

what is "No. 1 Party Anthem" reminding me of? can't quite put my finger on it. great song to close side one.

so basically now, how fun.
so they are playing "Arabella" and in the middle of it they break into Black Sabbath, so fucking cool.

i went searching on the internet to look for Yoenis Cespedes of the A's incredible throw that i have been hearing about and ran into this link. knowing that i'm only about 20 miles away only heighten my excitement, though i'm not there.
― Bee OK, Thursday, 12 June 2014 02:53 (eleven years ago)
this album sounds great now. I'm tempted to call it their best.
― the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 1 April 2017 18:13 (eight years ago)
this is, by far, my favorite of theirs.
― Bee OK, Saturday, 1 April 2017 22:03 (eight years ago)
Inspired by having "Fireside" and "I Wanna be Yours" pop up on my phone.
― the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 1 April 2017 22:15 (eight years ago)
agreed, it's those non-singles that make this album "Knee Socks" might be my favorite. we should poll this one day, would be hard for me to pick.
― Bee OK, Saturday, 1 April 2017 22:32 (eight years ago)
Humbug is the only album of theirs worth listening to, and even then that record pales in comparison to what other bands were offering at the time. The early stuff particularly is overrated tosh.
― The Roger Waters Experience (Turrican), Saturday, 1 April 2017 23:09 (eight years ago)
Maybe I'm the only man alive who prefers the second album to the debut.
