I broke up definitely with my girlfriend last night after discovering she had been getting off with someone else. i am bitter as FUCK. all i've been listening to all day is 'anthrax' by Go4 becuz i am BITTER as FUCK. so, what songs can you recommend that shout about ANTI-love, or songs about MOVING ON; NOT 'i will survive', but songs in a similar vein, like 'fuck that bitch, i'm now single and she can just fuck off if she thinks i'm gonna be sitting around all well depressed and crying and stuff', u get me? cool.
ps. don't just redirect me to a similar thread; take my feelings into account and at least humour me. please.

Best of all would be songs that aren't about love at all but just leave you feeling like a clever fuck who has no interest in some moronic woman in the first place. Esp. early 80s Fall.

"Stigmata" by Ministry ("you ran out of lies!!!"), "Tomorrow She Goes Away" by the Ramones, "When I Burn This Place Down" by Firewater ("I want you to see the big smile on my face, when I hitch a ride out of town!"), "Insanely Jealous" by the Soft Boys, "Unbearable" by the Wonder Stuff ("I didn't like you very much when I met you, and now I like you even less!"), "Woman" by the Anti-Nowhere League, "Gone" by the Wedding Present, "Damaged Goods" by Gang of Four while you're at it, "Reptile" by Nine Inch Nails ("she leaves a trail of honey to show me where she's been..."), actually the entirety of the BROKEN e.p. by Nine Inch Nails -- silly as he/they are -- would serve your needs nicely.

But playing these indie-I Will Survive records surely has 'I'm not really over you at all, please take me back' written all over it?

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 9 October 2002 14:36 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't believe the sentiment is so much "I will survive" as "fuck you, may death be swiftly upon you for fuckin' up my life like that," no?

Snoop Dogg - "Ain't No Fun" should give you some clarity. Download it immediately.

Surely the Psychedelic Furs have a song or two that reflects this specific scenario ("All of This and Nothing," "Goodbye," etc.)

But...."Run to the Hills" by Iron Maiden???? That's about Indians!

I made a vile tape for a friend a long time ago, after he discovered that his girlfriend wasn't true to him in his desired fashion. I remember a few tracks I put on it: "You Fucked Up" by Ween, "I Wanna Destroy You" by the Soft Boys, "Flashback" by Ministry. Something on Husker Du's Zen Arcade may be appropriate. "I Hate You" by the Monks. Sorry about your girlfriend - life will completely suck for a few days, feeling betrayed, used, and generally crappy, and then eventually you will realize that the sooner this happened, the better, because it is apparent that this person is foul.

"Word reached me this morning, you were planning on leaving
There's just one thing for me to say before you go
.....
You can walk with the devil
But you'll never walk again with me
....
You can dine with the devil
With Errol Flynn at fifty by your side
And Tallulah fucking Bankhead at your feet "

"Walk with the Devil - Jazz Butcher

stevie (stevie), Friday, 11 October 2002 08:22 (twenty-three years ago)

well, there's all of Dylan's Blood on the Tracks.

I once found Robert Wyatt's version of 'At Last I am free' did the trick with uncanny power in a similar situation. You do have to get to the point where you see the good side before this works, though.

As for right now, I have certainly used 'Anthrax' in similar situations. The album version does it best, and you can walk around all day singing the 'love'll get you' line to yourself defiantly (though very quietly if you are in libraries looking at fanny, or you may be arrested).

Geto Boys, "Gangster of Love" or "I Ain't a Gentlemen". Actually, the fact that I luv these songs so much might be a clue as to why I'm single in the first place. "I'll eat with my hands, not the proper utensils!" Genius

"Little Bitch" by the Specials, from the first album. Cutting, fearsome, confident and to the point.

Darren, Friday, 11 October 2002 18:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Dear Bitter,

My advice is this: never break up with a woman because she is "getting off with somone else" only when she refuses to get off with YOU...grow up you dork you. Btw, to you have facial hair?
