Acclaimed Music Top 25 Albums from 1970 poll

last year of the 70's albums we are doing, summer is almost over. :-(

some albums just missing the Top 25 29 include: 30 Free - Fire and Water, 31 The Soft Machine - Third, 32 MC5 - Back in the USA, 33 Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys, 34 Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs, 36 Rod Stewart - Gasoline Alley, 37 The Doors - Morrison Hotel, 38 Joe Cocker - Mad Dogs and Englishmen, 39 Spirit - Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus, 40 The Last Poets - The Last Poets, 43 The Meters - Look-Ka Py Py, 45 Aretha Franklin - Spirit in the Dark, 46 The Kinks - Lola versus Powerman and The Moneygoround, Part One, 48 Elton John - Tumbleweed Connection, 49 Vashti Bunyan - Just Another Diamond Day and 50 Kris Kristofferson -Kristofferson/Me and Bobby McGee.

just realized i messed up the date, i always do these for only five days, oh well this one will go on one week longer than normal.

1. Gold Rush, 2. Loaded/Cosmo's Factory, 3. Gasoline Alley, 4. III/Fun House, 5. Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus, 6. the two Dead albums.

Pretty impossible, but voted for Layla. Yet many others could have been checked off too.

This may be the toughest one yet - there are just so many albums here I absolutely love. Even shortlisting ten of them is difficult....

Lots and lots of great choices, but I'm voting for All Things Must Pass.

The the impossiblest one yet. Just recently got into Curtis, which is beyond consistently brilliant. Fun House, Plastic Ono, Starsailor, Miles, and Cosmo's are all close seconds to Leeds, probably my all-time favorite record.

tempted to vote for '12 songs' just because i doubt it'll get many votes and it's great, but it's got to be 'funhouse.' lots of terrific stuff here though, could just as easily vote for 'sex machine,' 'plastic ono band,' or even 'bryter layter.'

I love that scene from Five Easy Pieces. The Jack Nicholson character just wants a piece of toast which they don't have and after a lot of snarky back and forth with the waitress ends up ordering an egg salad on toast, hold the egg salad.

Sex Machine is close second to 12 Songs btw. those Dead albums are magic. Lennon and VU obviously classic. Fun House, Moondance and Layla are also impressive. the rest I don't really care for...
