Recommend me more music that sounds like 'Jockey Full of Bourbon'

Looking for more songs that sound like Tom Waits' Jockey Full of Bourbon. Don't know how to describe it... Latin-tinged blues? There's a new orleans vibe somewhere in there I guess (I've never actually been to New Orleans). Some sort of party voodoo music, the kind you hear on seedy bars. I honestly have no idea how to describe it, that's one of the main reasons I'm having trouble finding more music like it. Please help, ILM?

TLDR: Recommend me songs with twangy blues guitars and/or latin percussion.

Not particularly seedy, but certainly has the twangy guitars and thrift store Latin

It might be too obvious to suggest Marc Ribot, since he played guitar on "Jockey," but his work with Los Cubanos Postizos is in a similar vein.

United Steelworkers of Montreal work the Waits schtick very well. Marc Ribot's Cubanos Postizos and Ry Cooder's Mambo Sinuendo are two albums I love for that kind of guitar sound. Some of the earlier Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire stuff gets at that demented carnival vibe, but more fey and not as gravelly as Waits.

I used to be baffled by Tom Waits' mid-period stuff in terms of what his antecedents/influences were (then I heard Beefheart, and Howlin Wolf). course nowadays the dude has tons of imitators, he's like a little subgenre unto his own

I'm loving these recommendations so far! Thanks.

Hadn't heard the Waits song (to my knowledge), so I looked it up. First thing I thought of was "Hell" by Squirrel Nut Zippers (lol). Better maybe: Dr. John!

Jockey Full of Bourbon always makes me think of Cab Calloway for reasons that I can't put my finger on. This is slower than Jockey but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-qEZ9zeIJw

Thinking more about this, the ur Blues-Latin song is Caravan, written by Ellington's trombonist Juan Tizol, who was Puerto Rican, and bluesified to varying degrees by Ellington and in many subsequent covers. Most of the twangy guitar-era rock 'n' rollers did a version or a variation on it, as did most hastily-assembled studio bands creating belly dancing fad albums.

Yes! Dr. John! I was actually going to post this thread asking for more music that sounded like him but I assumed Jockey is better known and appreciated amongst ILM. Squirrel Nut Zippers isn't a bad one to throw in this mix either.

Okay, that Bo Diddley track is just killin' me right now. Here's a (maybe) similar, obscure instro I tried to get my band to learn, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

The Bo Diddley sounds like it was extracted from the 'from Dusk till Dawn' soundtrack.

I'll second the Latin Playboys. This has always been my favorite song of theirs:
