Anyone familiar with MIDSUMMER?

I know them from the split they did with the slowcore band Coastal. I've always loved their half of that mini-album, so I went looking for somewhere to purchase other physical product of theirs and came up with nothing.

But they're on Spotify, so that will suffice for now.

Anyway, anybody a fan? Have any thoughts?

So, that's a no?

Been messaging back and forth with their drummer (very friendly guy) and he agreed to send me some discs!

Very engaging stuff. Kind of an American Sigur Ros, if you will. And yet, still weird to think that Midsummer's first recording was 1999:

According to Steve, they are unfortunately not really a working band anymore.

Shame they were not more known and heard. Because I'll be gosh darned if they weren't pretty great.

I liked them a lot. I have the first two eps and the split with Coastal. I found out about them back in 99 or 2000 when I tried to pick up pretty much everything on this link list. The guy knew his stuff.

Yeah, the split with Coastal (talk about another ridiculously great, mostly unheard band) is where I first heard them.

Extra credit points for that delicious link, as well.

Indeed, Coastal were pretty great. I have both their full lengths and a 10" with a Cocteau Twins cover on it.

The best bands I found through that link list were Bethany Curve, Grimble Grumble, and Lift to Experience.

This is seriously my song of the year. It's quite an achievement when you only release one song in the same year that both Fleet Foxes and Jon Hassell release full lengths and still manage to outdo them in terms of sheer sonic beauty. That sounds cheesy, but that's how blissfully amazing this song is.
