It just occurred to me that these two songs bear some resemblance, so naturally I had to poll them.

And the all-time winner
Has got him by the balls!

Dog Man Star took a suck on a pill... (Turrican), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 21:55 (eleven years ago)

Sabbath riffs > Tull riffs
Tull flute solos > Sabbath guitar solos

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 21:58 (eleven years ago)

I can hum the riffs to "Paranoid" and "Iron Man," honestly can't conjure up "War Pigs." Most of you will probably tell me I just don't listen to enough Sabbath. Riff to "Locomotive Breath" rules!

I agree that Locomotive Breath is one of the (if not THE) best Tull riffs, especially paired with that w00m-w00m-w00m bassline.

agreed that loco breath is worthy. But Pigs takes this one

More Than a Century With the Polaris Emblem (calstars), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 22:04 (eleven years ago)

(...listens on youtube....) Oh, of course, that one. Yeah, I get the similarity. Still Tull for me.

"War Pigs," which would be the best even if it didn't rhyme "masses" with "masses."

trying to decide if "locomotive breath" should be docked several points, or get bonus points, for that piano intro,

confessing to the endless sin! funny as it sounds the call and response between the flute and the choir in "my god" is one of the scariest things i've ever heard

"locomotive breath" isn't close to one of the best songs on aqualung

The extent of my Tull knowledge goes very little beyond the singles, so I guess Aqualung deserves a proper examination sometime very soon.

At least you know they had a song called "Locomotive Breath", which is more than I did till this thread

Aqualung is a really solid album imo.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Saturday, 7 September 2013 00:05 (eleven years ago)

Like, if you like the singles, I see no reason why you wouldn't like the whole album.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Saturday, 7 September 2013 00:05 (eleven years ago)

Yeah, I was gonna queue it up tonight and give it my undivided attention.
