wasn't 4/25 male fronted and (many) female backed? I never heard the song but remember the (awful) photo.

This is cool, but as us Midwesterners say, no Scrawl, no credibility.

Female-led punk (preferably right in the grey zone between punk and power-pop) has been my favourite sound for the past five years or so, so thanks for pointing this out--already on disc two. (Scrawl should be on there, yes.)

Disc 7. I'm tired.

What are a few tracks I should listen to in order to get a feel for this? I'm a little hesitant to download 12 CDs' worth of material right away.

i'm only familiar with about 5-10% of it, too, and it is pretty wide-ranging if the unknowns are comparable to the knowns -- some of it is poppy/new-wavey (e.g. Rezillos), but there are some Teenage Jesus and the Jerks tracks which are more no-wave/noise

Oh, somehow, I was assuming that some people already knew the set. Bad assumption. I'll try those recommendations when I can. I like Teenage Jesus (and love Crass when the women were singing). Never got into any Kleenex/Liliput that I've heard.

Disc 9 has Michaele Jordana & the Poles' "CN Tower," out of Toronto, and I also spotted Tyranna's "Back Off Baby" (not very good, from what I remember). That's pretty thorough. No Fifth Column, though, who would seem much more central to the story.
