This came into discussion with a friend of mine earlier this night. I imagine there has to be good nu-rockabilly (along with swing and surf but that's probably material for another thread) albums/songs worth listening to from the past decade but I couldn't come up with any concrete examples. Are there any Rockabilly revivalists worth checking out from the past 13 years?

Not rockabilly.

it's been fairly dire since the century turned, hasn't it?
Dexter Romweber has kept it going well. His albums "Chased by Martians" and "Blues That Defy My Soul" in particular.

I like this track by Hillbilly Moon Explosion, which somehow does the aging flamey-shirt thing without degenerating into Guy Fieri-isms

Exene's first Original Sinners album was great

...the followup was a snooze
All that is 80/90s leftovers tho'. Can't think of a young band that has manipulated the cliches in an inspired manner.

Yeah I assumed the lack of participation on this thread meant there are none.

Kim Lenz has been around for a while, but apparently never mentioned on ilm. I like her brand new album a lot.

Vampire Weekend are not rockabilly but their song "Diane Young" kind of is.

none of this is at all straight-up rockabilly revivalist - but there's been some 50's doo-wop-influenced stuff in garage rock recently
King Khan & BBQ:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmXHm2Yc2KM
King Khan + Bloodshot Bill = The Tandoori Knights:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3heoAj2skc
BBQ + Bloodshot Bill = The Ding Dongs:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz2eJlkCEok
Shannon & The Clams:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SN2wygv0O10
Dirty Beaches does a kind of Suicide arty 50's greaser schtick:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qqdz7Rokha4
And this is way more of a 50's crooner thing - Richard Hawley:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EYk83xz3dQ&list=PL32C60E7E04993AB3
Richard Hawley goes more full-on rocker in his side project Teenage Werewolf:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-OG_GeL0Dc

"Vampire Weekend are not rockabilly but their song "Diane Young" kind of is."
lock thread your genre is officially dead.

These recommendations are actually pretty good! I'm familiar with most of them, the Kim Lenz is new and it sounds pretty good, will check her out.
Diane Young isn't a bad example is it? I love that song and it does have rockabilly thrown in for good measure, at least it tries to push the genre into a new territory. I would actually love if more 'indie' artists tried it out, it would probably be awful for the most part but if at least 3 good songs came out of the revival I'd be happy.

I mean the indie garage revival has given us some brilliant acts and music.
Check out Thee Merry Widows Moka!

I'm assuming Imelda May has crossed your radar, so I won't post a vid. Asskicking live show, but I haven't bought anything by her.
Same with Devil Doll, I'm not familiar with most of her stuff, but love "Liquor Store."

These gals are getting kinda big in Minneapolis. I'm not 100% sold, but the video is great:

It's interesting how garage rock has been so lively over the last decade, but with very little 50s Memphis influence. Of big players, Mr. BBQ/Sultan probably uses rockabilly licks and melodies the most, in a way the reminds me of Buddy Holly more than Sun Records

I'm late to the party on Shannon & the Clams, just clicked that link above yesterday and I'm in love. Just bought a ticket to see them next month (my first show in 7th Street Entry in years...)

Like Amy Winehouse fronting Southern Culture on the Skids. Looks like it's gonna be big fun in a small club.

This was in Milwaukee earlier this year: Slim Jim Phantom's Rockabilly Circus - rolling into the Northern Lights Theater at Potawatomi Hotel and Casino tonight at 8 - is a full cavalcade of rock and rhythm and blues with a lineup that features the Stray Cats drummer along with Sonny Burgess and the Legendary Pacers, Deke Dickerson and Kim Lenz and Wanda Jackson

Circus 2 coming October 9: Jack Scott, Narvel Felts, Huelyn Duvall, Marti Brom. And I may be there! Consolation prize for missing Ponderosa Stomp.

A nice consolation prize. I like Marti Brom

Chris Casello Trio on the bill too. He's up there with Bill Kirchen in my book.

Reviving this thread (although it seems like there's minimal interest) to say I'm really loving The 24th Street Wailers. They're R&B revival, not rockabilly, and for a band of young Canadians they nail the vintage Etta James sound extremely well. Catchy songwriting too.
