Lindsey Buckingham "Law and Order": C/D?

Another poster once described Lindsey's music thusly: "Bubble-gum-motown-doo-wop-rockabilly." Accurate! On the heels of Tusk came this charming, almost variety hour-esque miniature of a solo record, indulging Lindsey's west coast whims and almost comic book impulses. As much as I love "Trouble", I still think it belongs on either Mirage or Go Insane. However, "Holiday Road" should've been on here as it's totally of a piece with the 50's manic panic vibe in evidence throughout. Also, "Bwana" pretty much invented Vampire Weekend. Discuss.

Discussion here: Lindsey Buckingham's "Holiday Road" is the most bestest song of all time.

first I think it's time I kick a little verse! (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 14:44 (twelve years ago)

Hmmm, didn't think that was a dedicated album thread. Mostly about the song, no?

HUGE fan of this album. As far as his solo stuff goes, this is the one I return to the most. "Shadow of the West" is so incredible.

It's true – some of the beats are proto tribal house.

His most recent albums are still pretty amazing too especially Seeds We Sow.

Last three records and Under The Skin in particular are more or less quirky singer-songwriter indie records.

Yeah. He's retreated.

Most recent trace of "vintage" Lindsey I could detect was on Red Rover off of Say You Will, which is now 10 years old. Has that sped-up music box merry-go-round going off the hinges feel that he so loves.
