Like this! She should release an alter ego album under the name Britney Bitch. She could call it "It's Britney Bitch." Every song could have bitch in the title.

― J0rdan S., Sunday, 15 September 2013 16:03 (twelve years ago)
Embracing her inner RuPaul on this one! Kinda.

this is dope though... and i'm stunned there's a cleverness to their use of "work bitch" instead of them just trying to ride the post-ball revival wave

lol this song
sounds like that will.i.am one where she sounded british too, it's basically the same "melody"
― surm, Sunday, 15 September 2013 22:14 (twelve years ago)
i guess naughty british spoken word is the new thing!
― surm, Sunday, 15 September 2013 22:16 (twelve years ago)
i actually liked some of her vocal inflections (go call the guh-vah-nah!) but i dunno the initial impression i had was that the backing was way too BEP in EDM mode for me
maybe i will come around.

This is pretty rad! Is there a thread about the second coming of MDMA? Seems to be the thing these days.

Maybe a couple influences here - Nicki Minaj doing her silly Roman voice ("you've gone mahd!") and a mini-crop of actual British voices on the charts, most notably Cher Lloyd but also Jessie J a little bit.
Not sure I'm seeing the instant-classic qualities of this, it's passable but not earth-shaking. Feels empty, missing something.
― Doctor Casino, Sunday, 15 September 2013 23:31 (twelve years ago)
this is so bad
― puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Sunday, 15 September 2013 23:32 (twelve years ago)
it's even less subtle than the typical bep in edm mode
i am still figuring out whether this is a good or bad thing honestly. definitely seems to be missing something.
hell, i should just accept that i will probably end up loving this by the time a video is dumped onto the internet.
― dyl, Sunday, 15 September 2013 23:33 (twelve years ago)
the weird britishisms make it sound like she's trying to channel MIA or Yolandi or something?

― surm, Sunday, 15 September 2013 23:50 (twelve years ago)
212 was a lot more thrilling than this.
That said this is more in line with the music Azealia should be making instead of whatever boring shit she's served up for the past 12 months
― monotony, Sunday, 15 September 2013 23:51 (twelve years ago)

can't believe i'm about to earnestly respond to a cousin slappy post BUT it's because the song directly addresses women right? (even tho it panders to a gay male fanbase)

this song is unintentionally (i presume?!) hilarious
― monotony, Sunday, 3 November 2013 23:48 (eleven years ago)
"i'm gonna mark my territory"
"i hope I fill the room, when she's in it with you"
"i hide it well, hope you can tell, but I hope she smells my perfume"
sounds like brit just took a dump in the corner
Wait 'til it's used to sell gift sets for the holidays.
It's way better than "Work Bitch." I find it fascinating how much Sia's guide vocals lead these singers, too—like that first verse sounds beamed in from another galaxy where Britney can belt.
― maura, Sunday, 3 November 2013 23:53 (eleven years ago)
oh wow! i feel like it's been a long time since brit's had a performance this emotive. i love robo-britney and i think 'work bitch' is great, but this is exciting

― Murgatroid, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 00:06 (eleven years ago)
yeah i mean strange as in...where are the hits
basically some BEP knockoffs and some katy perry demos thrown together
― mums go off when i enter the building (monotony), Tuesday, 26 November 2013 00:10 (eleven years ago)
yikes, what was the last song she put out that was as boringly empty as "alien"? plodding musically, bland + unevocative lyrics, vocals not engaged with the message at all? and that's the track you start things off with??
― certified skeleton fucker (reddening), Tuesday, 26 November 2013 00:45 (eleven years ago)
The dance tracks are very by the numbers and typical of will.i.am, the midtempos are largely forgettable and clearly not being song by her. This is an album of 5s and 6s waiting for a couple 8s and 9s to come in and redeem the whole thing but it never happens.
― Greer, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 02:02 (eleven years ago)
wow what a disappointing and boring album :///
― lex pretend, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 13:38 (eleven years ago)
It's hard to believe this album came from the same person that made something as thrilling as Blackout.
― mums go off when i enter the building (monotony), Tuesday, 26 November 2013 13:44 (eleven years ago)
Britney was about as present for Blackout as Bowie was for Station to Station.
― Popture, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 13:59 (eleven years ago)
well at least jamie lynn has a new single out right
― dyl, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 15:45 (eleven years ago)
Never liked anything by Britney Spears (first single excepted, sort of). Especially "Toxic"--hated that. But "Scream and Shout" and "Work Bitch" are two of my favourite singles this year. I'm clearly on the wrong page when it comes to her.
― clemenza, Thursday, 28 November 2013 18:15 (eleven years ago)
who decided that 10 mostly mid-tempo songs could comprise a successful album, smh. i still love 'work bitch' and 'perfume' and i think they do well paired back to back, but the rest of the album is such a disappointing slog. i enjoyed her song from the smurfs 2 movie more than most of these.
'chillin' with you' is one of the more soulless of brit's family-related songs in recent memory. like, i rarely listen to 'my baby' off of circus, but i appreciate it as a seemingly earnest expression of her love for her kids. this has no heart or soul or even familiarity at all. also the decision to have brit and jamie pronounce "with you" as "witchu" gets more embarrassing the longer the song goes on.
― reddening, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 09:51 (eleven years ago)
the thing is, this is the album that by rights britney should have made 5-6 years ago. i think the fact that she kept churning out decent-to-brilliant pop despite being on drugs, incapable, heavily medicated and/or clearly disinterested made people think she could do that forever. i guess this time the disinterest finally showed.
― lex pretend, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 10:45 (eleven years ago)
More the disinterest of everyone around here really. Think everyone just decided the game was up when Femme Fatale failed to shift even a million copies. Whereas before Blackout she was still defineably A Big Deal and they were going to get that record out AND make it good even if they had to physically push her into the studio and get someone else to record most of it.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 10:52 (eleven years ago)
Everyone around HER, I mean.
boring and disappointingly faceless
But it's supposedly her most personal record to date! Oh, wait.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 14:34 (eleven years ago)
i didn't even like femme fatale that much but it seemed like a huge success compared to this
