So, a Gigolo Aunts obsessed fan sent me the following link (among many others):http://www.geocities.com/gcohen36/ebay/mini-josie5.JPG3

More than have of the songs credit David Gibbs (singer for GA) as a writer and/or co-producer. I have a feeling it's all very power-poppy. Anyone heard it? Is it good? Probaby sounds like The Bangles tinged with The Donnas, I'm guessing.

"More than HALF of the songs" certainly makes more sense than "have of the songs". Please read it that way.

oh god it's much more interesting than the bloody donnas.

it's sort of in the vein of that great girl-guitar-pop period from well i guess 1994-97. the influence is mostly veruca salt-esque from the period where they did that record with bob rock; put 'volcano girls' and 'shapeshifter' next to each other to know what i am talking about.

Agreed, Maura. Of course, it's soooo much harder to top the Bangles. But it is better than the Rondelles, which sez quite a bit. Spin Around & Pretend to Be Nice are other stand out tracks. Less power-pop than pop/punk. The songs actually are much more enjoyable once you've seen the movie -- the lyrics fit into the plot quite well, and the music video-esque sequences in the movie are top-rate. & the occasional hint of a Boston accent puts it all into "sublime" as far as I'm concerned.

it is the much dreaded singer from letters to cleo, so very dud, generic sounding pg riot-grrl stuff. however, the movie was fun.

eleven months pass...
REVIVE! Not because the Pussycats are back, but because there's this new album by Tuuli that will surely appeal to anyone who liked the music in this movie. Really good power pop.

I haven't heard the whole soundtrack but the Three Small Words / Pretend To Be Nice single is damn fantastic - I wish all chart pop sounded like this. More Guitars, People!!!

Tuuli is GREAT! (GRATE, even). "Who's The Fool Now" sounds like MBV with vocals way high in the mix. At least at first. "It's Over" is a dead ringer for "Pretend To Be Nice".

The only thing keepin them from being a real life josie story is the lack of the Boston accent.

Rhino Handmade has a limited-edition CD of all the songs from the original series, if anyone's interested.
