I always thought that Black Sabbath was just as influential in the Gothic and dark indie world as they were for metal bands. And Joy Division was kind of the opposite: Their music lent itself perfectly to different metallic stylings from depressive black metal to symphonic death metal to the obvious gothic-tinged stuff.

Ive never seen this thread and probably wouldn’t be that interested but Roy Montgomery did a very limited lathe cut cover of Day of the Lords which he recently posted in YouTube. It’s about as heavy metal as something derived from Roy Montgomery and a drum machine could be expected.
