Bands where the main songwriter was someone other than who the band was named after

I've been listening to a lot J Geils Band lately, and it's weird that J Geils didn't write many-- if any-- of their songs in their first 15 years, 10+ albums, and numerous singles. (Actually, I never hear him even mentioned as a particularly great guitarist for that matter, and in fact, he's not even in the reunited band, which is REALLY weird since they're still touring around as J Geils Band.) Is there any other band where the main songwriter was not the guy the band was named after?

oh, and also looking for bands where the other main songwriter is also in the band

Dickey Betts wrote quite a bit (the majority???, dont have time to check) of the Allman Bros. most well known songs on his own. Gregg contributed some, Duane was never really a songwriter.

Even weirder was when The Sensational Alex Harvey Band continued without Alex Harvey while he started a new band without his name in it.

Haha read the thread title & thought of J. Geils immediately.
