Because I just bought it on vinyl. Because there ain't enough Spinners talk around here. Because it's nearly a "Greatest Hits" in itself.

My vote: "How Could I Let You Get Away." One of the most beautiful ballads of the classic soul era. Also, any era.

I'll Be Around

In terms of the two biggest singles, as good as it gets; truthfully, I never played the whole album more than two or three times. (There's a British greatest-hits of theirs I'd play instead, which included "Then Came You" and "They Just Can't Stop It (The Games People Play)." Anyway, "I'll Be Around."

sometimes the Spinners are my favorite group of all. usually when I'm playing "I'll Be Around" or "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love". clemenza otm: "as good as it gets"

Surprised that others don't seem to completely love this record. I honestly think the only weak link here is the Vegas-y "Don't Let the Green Grass Fool You."

how could it be anything besides "I'll Be Around"

You know those recent Hall of Fame nominee announcements? The Spinners aren't in the Hall. Have only been nominated once. Okay, enough Hall ranting. This is my fave 70's R&B vocal group. Good album. Like 1975's Pick of the Litter a bit better. Voted "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love".

jetfan, Thursday, 17 October 2013 22:19 (eleven years ago)

know who else isn't in the Hall? Thom Bell!! and oh, The Stylistics!

I'm probably one of the few people on this board who doesn't hate the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame--trying to figure out the logic of who gets in and why interests me--but I do count the Spinners as possibly the most egregious omission at the moment.

70's R&B vocal groups are hard to find at the Hall. Except for the O'Jays and EWF.

I sort of like the Hall. which is why I get upset by it sometimes

Yeah I agree with Jetfan, this is a solid album but Pick of the Litter is even better. Totally underrated group.

no joke, and practically absent from spotify beyond some hits and comp appearances. voted 'i'll be around' which would rate very highly in my all time fave tracks. rrhof is a joke but one reason i don't mind its existence is it's ability to make oldies acts like the spinners some extra cash on the circuit so their absence from it is more egregious to me than something like w/ brian eno or bryan ferry or whoever where it wouldn't matter to their bottom line anyway.
