the vineyards where the grapes of corporate rock are stored (cryptosicko), Sunday, 20 October 2013 15:45 (eleven years ago)

impossible. Chose "Backstabbers" but it could've been six or seven other tracks.

col, Sunday, 20 October 2013 15:55 (eleven years ago)

"Gimme Just a Little More Time" is one of my favourites ever so

chimped the keeper (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 20 October 2013 15:56 (eleven years ago)

Superfly

Darin, Sunday, 20 October 2013 15:57 (eleven years ago)

The Detroit Emeralds one is a gem, it's the one sampled by De La Soul. But I went for Backstabbers as well because it is a great song.

Damo Suzuki's Parrot, Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:09 (eleven years ago)

Always an insane amount of groove cramming on these K-Tel rekkids...

Dog Man Star took a suck on a pill... (Turrican), Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:10 (eleven years ago)

The Citizen Kane of K-Tel albums--ubiquitous at one time, but I then spent a number of years trying to find a copy in good shape. (I thought I did, but I just checked and I guess not.)

1. "Family Affair"
2. "Band of Gold"
3. "Give Me Just a Little More Time"
4. "Jungle Fever"

clemenza, Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:11 (eleven years ago)

Voted O'Jays over Curtis, Timmy Thomas, Sly and Chairman.

jetfan, Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:17 (eleven years ago)

"Family Affair" is just so...unique and cool sounding.

timellison, Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:57 (eleven years ago)

And not just the sound, but the way the song is put together, the phrasing. So good.

timellison, Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:58 (eleven years ago)

^OTM. Voted Family Affair.

that's not my post, Sunday, 20 October 2013 17:05 (eleven years ago)

Edna Wright from Honey Cone one of my favorite singers, by the way. "Stick Up" was another great hit of theirs. Very close to Jackson Five sound.

Didn't realize "Want Ads" went to number one - that is really cool.

Give Me Just a Little More Time is magic

Is the Joe Simon Power of Love lp any cop?
I just found out it seemed to be worthy of investigation last week after it had been sitting in a sale for a few weeks and when I went back to get it it was gone. So just wondering to what extent I missed out?

Stevolende, Sunday, 20 October 2013 18:14 (eleven years ago)

Give Me Just A Little More time is one of the greatest songs ever recorded, so that.

Pingu Unchained (dog latin), Sunday, 20 October 2013 18:15 (eleven years ago)

US vs UK releases

chimped the keeper (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 20 October 2013 19:40 (eleven years ago)

ah, I mean I think I prefer this one, but.

Mark G, Sunday, 20 October 2013 19:44 (eleven years ago)

also, that is definitely the UK LP pictured, 24 tracks not 20

(also the 50p sticker)

Mark G, Sunday, 20 October 2013 19:49 (eleven years ago)

the catalogue number on the pic is the UK edish but i can understand not realizing there was two versions

chimped the keeper (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 20 October 2013 19:50 (eleven years ago)

On this one, "Why Can't We Live Together" Timmy Thomas

On the other one, um, "Why Can't We Live Together" Timmy Thomas

ahem.

Mark G, Monday, 21 October 2013 12:04 (eleven years ago)

Freda, just a hair over the O'Jays.

My question is primarily riparian (Phil D.), Monday, 21 October 2013 12:18 (eleven years ago)

(xp) You can't have too much of a good thing

Tommy McTommy (Tom D.), Monday, 21 October 2013 12:51 (eleven years ago)

I think I did know there were a couple different versions but forgot. Confusing, sorry.

"Backstabbers," lots of great songs here but I'm going for ultra-smoov harmonies + early 70s paranoia

Brad C., Tuesday, 22 October 2013 15:14 (eleven years ago)

and yet again...

This album shouldve had Bobby Womack's Across 110th street on, that would have been my winner. Otherwise any of the top six here
