Whatever Happened to The Sanford/Townsend Band?

Sanford Townsend Band released three lps, and then faded out of existence. To my knowledge, the last lp, "Nail Me To The Wall" was never put on CD, but if anyone has different information, I would love to know. Also, does anyone out there know how to contact either John Townsend, or Ed Sanford? Pete

I too am a great fan of this group. I have the first two lps which I have moved to cds, but I don't have "Nail me to the Wall". Anyone who has a copy, please e-mail me. Thanks,
REW

"Smoke From a Distant Fire." Wow, this brings back '70s car radio memories.

For those who asked: What happened to Ed Sanford and/or John Townsend.
I have no idea what happened to Ed Sanford but I spoke to John Townsend at a songwriters convention in L.A. in early November of 2001. He said he was doing fine and had been living in L.A. for some time. He had several funny stories to tell about the promotion (or should I say non-promotion) of 'Nail Me To The Wall'. He said he had been doing a lot of demo work, notably 'Up Where We Belong' for Will Jennings, among others. I don't know how to contact him, sorry.

If anybody still wants to know: I heard "Smoke of a Distant Fire" on the radio today and was looking for the answer to "whatever happened to" myself. Here's a link to a page I found with info on the group and there is a link on that page to John Townsend's website.

Man, what a smooth song. It's like Steely Dan with a more conventional lead singer. Totally digging this. Plus: intro from Helen Reddy, citing Kenny Loggins!
