The Disco poll thread shouldn't become cluttered with Youtubes, so campaign for your favourite tracks in this one. I'll start with one of my absolute favourites:
The height of the disco era coincided with a renewed interest in sci-fi, due to the popularity of Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (both of which received disco remakes of their theme tunes, included in the nomination list), so there were a shitload of awesome, epic sci-fi disco tunes. This lesser known gem from Canada might be the campiest and best of them all:

I'm not sure what is so irresistible abt this slice of Italo (maybe it's the drum hits, maybe it's the looped vocals, idk) but

The song is, like, one of the reasons synthesizers were invented.

― Stevie D(eux), Sunday, 3 November 2013 16:13 (eleven years ago)
Never heard that remix before, but it sounds like someone's been listening to "Rockit". :) The synth hook in "Happy Station" is one for the ages IMO... The vocals I've always thought are a bit bland (as in many Italo tunes), so I don't mind them getting chopped up.

I don't really have anything interesting to say about this, but the version on the spotify playlist is some 2008 remix that isn't very good, so I wanted to put this here (this is the version specified on Tuomas' list)

Sorry, I didn't mean to post it twice.
I don't really have anything interesting to say about this
This isn't very good campaigning, is it? I feel guilty I'm not doing more to sell it now, because it's one of my favourite tracks, produced my Marc Moulin from Telex, Placebo and Aksak Maboul if that interests anyone. Anyway, don't let my ineffectual campaigning technique put you off this fantastic track.
― also known as Princess Chunk and Captain Chunk, real name: Powder (soref), Sunday, 3 November 2013 16:26 (eleven years ago)
Yep, Sage Comme Une Image is flawless.
I think I'm A Man by Macho will be high on my list. The 17 minute 12" version feels about half as long as I want it to be.

Thinking about Aksak Maboul is making me wonder if there are any other points of crossover with Rock in Opposition/Disco personel amongst the nominated tracks.

So in addition to the Linda Clifford/Curtis Mayfield track I singled out in the nominations thread ...

I'd also like to draw more attention to the P&P masterpiece that is High Fidelity's "Magic Carpet," an unbelievably punchy, lo-fi workout:

Karen Carpenter- LovelinesThis is NOT ELIGIBLE for the poll as it was only released in 1989, but I wanted to post it on the off chance that there is anyone reading this who hasn't heard it before, because it's wonderful, would have a been definite top ten for me had it come out the time.

First couple of these aren't on Spotify:
New York Community Choir - I'll Keep My Light In My Window (Disco Mix): amazing gospel-disco version of the Caston and Majors/Marvin and Diana classic, possibly the most joyous song everUndisputed Truth - You + Me = Love: Norman Whitfield hits the discotheque, as good as it soundsDemis Roussos - L.O.V.E. Got a Hold On Me - this track would be sweet with anyone singing it, Demis Roussos' housewife- and hipster-approved falsetto takes it over the topRisco Connection - Ain't No Stopping Us Now (Version): Caribbean disco for parties under the seaGarçons - French Boy: if Love of Life Orchestra had aimed straight at the dancefloor; my all-time favourite rock/disco trackHot RS - House of the Rising Sun: "It's Hot! It's Hot! It's Hot!"Inner Life - Ain't No Mountain High Enough: disco juggernaut like no other, starts at a gallop and ends up flying through space
― snoop dogey doge (seandalai), Thursday, 7 November 2013 02:30 (eleven years ago)
Many orchestras and big bands released instrumental disco music, but Mike Theodore's orch migth've been the best of the bunch. "Cosmic Wind" is their space masterpiece, when the string melody hits at the two minute mark, after an extended hold-and-release start, the result is pure bliss:

if you've maybe only listened to the first few minutes of "just as long as i got you" by the love committee you could maybe be forgiven for thinking it was a typical lightweight sub-loveboat throwaway but i urge you to take the full eight minutes for a ride and let its psychedelic madness wash over you and up towards the top of your ballot
― ᶓ͠סּᴥ͠סּᶔ ᶓͼ᷆ₓͼ᷇ᶔ (gr8080), Thursday, 7 November 2013 18:01 (eleven years ago)

oops sorry 4 embed
ok one more
CHAPLIN BAND - LET'S HAVE A PARTY
this is the only version on youtube and its kind of shitty quality (its not on spotify either)
no idea why this isn't more of a classic-- such a straight-ahead disco-rock stomper with a chorus you can sing along to immediately

Both Roussos and Vangelis were, ja. Or is that what you meant? I'm more likely to vote 'I Dig You' but I'll give the other more of a listen.

I didn't think this track would need campaigning, but maybe it does. A groovy disco cover version with a wonderfully energetic performance by Jocelyn Brown, a masterful remix by Larry Levan, and a hypnotic extended synth solo in the middle... What more can you ask?

OTOH, if instrumental, moody synth disco is your thing, you can't go wrong with this one:

(IMO the best solo track Patrick Cowley ever produced.)
― Tuomas, Friday, 22 November 2013 12:17 (eleven years ago)
When talking about disco epics, Tantra's "Hills of Katmandu" is the first one I think about... It's 16 minutes of pure escapist bliss. I guess many of you might be familiar with the Patrick Cowley remix (which is ace), but the original version is even more epic:
