Seems like this will come down to "Regulate" vs. "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang". Worth noting that "Can't Let Go" might be my favorite Mariah Carey single.

justfanoe (Greg Fanoe), Friday, 15 November 2013 16:07 (eleven years ago)

Patty Smyth & Don Henley - Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough

the objections to Drake from non-REAL HIPHOP people (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 15 November 2013 16:10 (eleven years ago)

wow, some amazing songs here. need to listen to some again but it's gonna be "regulate" by a mile i think, beating out "water runs dry", "one more chance", the TLCs, and "nothin but a g thang"

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Friday, 15 November 2013 16:11 (eleven years ago)

this basically can be summed up for me as "college parties ruled during this time period"

guitar is coffee (DJP), Friday, 15 November 2013 16:11 (eleven years ago)

god I forgot how great "Don't Take It Personal" is.

The Queen #2 is from Wayne's World. "I Love Your Smile" is one of the happiest songs ever and it was held out by the dreadful "I'm Too Sexy". We've gotten back to the point where there's several here I don't know by name.

justfanoe (Greg Fanoe), Friday, 15 November 2013 16:12 (eleven years ago)

jesus we could poll whether "I Love Your Smile" or "My Lovin" uses woodwinds best.

Madonna - I'll Remember

Shanice - I Love Your Smile

Damn.

midnight outdoor nude frolic up north goes south (Eric H.), Friday, 15 November 2013 16:14 (eleven years ago)

This is an embarrasment of riches and a Don Henley song. Threw in for Shanice since I feel like that song has been forgotten.

Vinnie, Friday, 15 November 2013 16:27 (eleven years ago)

This is an embarrasment of riches and a Don Henley song.

well, yeah

the objections to Drake from non-REAL HIPHOP people (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 15 November 2013 16:29 (eleven years ago)

Eh, I've got a soft spot for a couple of his songs. If "New York Minute" was in this list instead, I wouldn't have made the comment.

Vinnie, Friday, 15 November 2013 16:59 (eleven years ago)

top 5:

1) right here/human nature
2) if i ever fall in love
3) regulate
4) freak like me
5) rump shaker

i love that swv song so much

dyl, Friday, 15 November 2013 17:04 (eleven years ago)

oh and downtown is really good too

dyl, Friday, 15 November 2013 17:04 (eleven years ago)

"If I Ever Fall In Love" has some great singing on a song that is really, really stupid; it's like a brain-damaged remake of "Next Time I Fall In Love"

guitar is coffee (DJP), Friday, 15 November 2013 17:07 (eleven years ago)

Wait, do you mean the horrendous Peter Cetera song?

the objections to Drake from non-REAL HIPHOP people (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 15 November 2013 18:05 (eleven years ago)

Yes, I do

"Next Time I Fall In Love" = "I discovered that I love you, my friend, and I want you"
"If I Ever Fall In Love" = "I fucked that up, huh? Well I hope, now that I've learned something, I can find someone just like you, but not you (I guess I haven't really learned that much)"

guitar is coffee (DJP), Friday, 15 November 2013 18:06 (eleven years ago)

SWV vs Shanice in undecidable face-off for me

a strident purist when it comes to band-related shirts (Noodle Vague), Friday, 15 November 2013 18:09 (eleven years ago)

Impossible to actually vote. Completely not possible.

Spottie, Friday, 15 November 2013 18:10 (eleven years ago)

so I'll just troll it up and go w Henley

Spottie, Friday, 15 November 2013 18:10 (eleven years ago)

May end up breaking toward Madonna, actually, given the stalemate among New Jill riches.

midnight outdoor nude frolic up north goes south (Eric H.), Friday, 15 November 2013 18:12 (eleven years ago)

i think i know in my heart i have to vote Shanice

guitar is coffee (DJP), Friday, 15 November 2013 18:25 (eleven years ago)

I've come around on a lot of shit but I can't warm to Boyz II Men :(

the objections to Drake from non-REAL HIPHOP people (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 15 November 2013 18:38 (eleven years ago)

you don't have to buy into the group, just that song (and on bended knee)

Spottie, Friday, 15 November 2013 18:39 (eleven years ago)

Just accept "End of the Road" and call it a day.

midnight outdoor nude frolic up north goes south (Eric H.), Friday, 15 November 2013 19:01 (eleven years ago)

more like end of my rope.

the objections to Drake from non-REAL HIPHOP people (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 15 November 2013 19:02 (eleven years ago)

That's unnatural.

midnight outdoor nude frolic up north goes south (Eric H.), Friday, 15 November 2013 19:08 (eleven years ago)

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Friday, 15 November 2013 19:13 (eleven years ago)

These songs all hit #2? I've never heard of half of these

Mr. Snrub, Friday, 15 November 2013 19:14 (eleven years ago)

Like who the fuck is Xscape?

Mr. Snrub, Friday, 15 November 2013 19:15 (eleven years ago)

Depends how fast you're driving, k3vin.

Didn't expect that many votes for Tears in Heaven.

MarkoP, Saturday, 23 November 2013 03:33 (eleven years ago)

don't want to live in a world where tears in heaven gets that many votes while candy rain, water runs dry, and freak like me are shut out.

billstevejim, Sunday, 24 November 2013 01:44 (eleven years ago)

between this and the "Change The World" triumph on the Babyface poll, there's some kind of Clapton contingent lurking around ILM polls lately and i'm not sure if it's for serious or for comedy
