real badmen who know of woolford's 'untitled' as one of 2013's finest summer jams (plus latterly his remixes of disclosure and george fitzgerald) will have smiled a charitably pitying smile at the senile wheezing raptures greeting the special request retro jungle project - but this interweaves the two approaches to storming, stirring effect, the now-signature arpeggiating house piano chords breathlessly darting and dancing in the lowball amen thickets like famished hummingbirds, the vocal perfectly enveloping the sentimental a-bomb - "will it get better, now that we're older?" just for once, this says maybe

and it's even better, and truer i think, to dial the time machine back here to an even further prelapsarian instance, past m-beat/anita baker and such to a kinda pitched-up frankie foncett 89 lick

'untitled' is great too, haven't heard the disclosure remix but the fitzgerald is also good - haven't quite been able to get into the special request album as much as everyone else, though; a couple of tracks sound good in isolation but maybe there's just not enough of the piano house in it for me?

Untitled is great but my favourite mode of Woolford is his squishier techno side, particularly when he's winding it through a vocal track a la his T. Williams/Terri Walker remix from a couple of years ago. Looking forward to hearing this.

I listened to the Special Request album once and kind of enjoyed it but I have't been tempted to go back.

Is this the right thread to ask if ILM ever bigged up T Williams' Rinse 21 mix?

yeah only 'undead' - which is like a trial run for this - really stuck with me in the end

dunno if this will make any waves ultimately but i guess i have it mentally paired with 'everything you never had' by breach (who has had a comparable year to woolford) as like a slight return of elegant 'unfinished sympathy' type anthemic retro jams
