Lol Mark. I couldn't think of anything interesting to say without risking sounding like a thicko in comparison to the honeyed classicism of ILM's classical clique. I used to listen to symphony no. 41, Requiem and the piano concertos when I was a kid and it was all down to Miloš Forman. Then I spent a wasted decade pretending I didn't like any classical music :(

Damo Suzuki's Parrot, Wednesday, 20 November 2013 19:45 (eleven years ago)

I often walk around humming the bass part of the Kyrie fugue from the Requiem to myself, and Laudamus te from the Mass in C-Minor is pretty much perfect

Don't you like Piano Concerto no. 23 Nilmar? It's a good Album is that.

Damo Suzuki's Parrot, Wednesday, 20 November 2013 20:44 (eleven years ago)

Love the G. Gould recording of no. 24 Damo. Have you heard that?

BTW I do love the detailed, erudite manner in which some people are able to discuss deep, sometimes quite complex music on here. However, in this thread I purposely tried to aim at attracting posts like "This bit is brilliant..." - just sharing amazon stuff without having it buried in snobbery or implied difficulty - and thus your contributions fit the bill precisely. So thanks, and many more...

By amazon I mean amazing. Thank you autocorrect

That staccato minor key theme that comes out of nowhere halfway through the finale of the 5th Violin Concerto is pretty neato.

I will definitely give it a listen, going a bit off topic here but this is The Shit.
