We should really have a 'Thread of Rudimental' to right this historical wrong, that album is way better.

It should be called 'A Rudimental Thread'.

Nutso that we've waited this long, no?
on the Live Lounge they just did a klezmer-skank version of "The Monster" by Eminem and Rihanna and then went off on the "Spottiottiedopalicious" riff to round it off. The feeling was similar to a headache lifting

Generally like the album but there are too many long songs with Emeli Sandé for it to be among my top favourites this year.

same. am fine with it - it's a patchy album with some amazing highlights but the truly great album they're capable of making would have sold bugger all

It's a really fun album, it's only really the trio of earnest D&B ballads in the middle that drag it down, and I deleted the Emile Sande album tracks immediately. I really, really like the rest of it though and they are a net good to wider British pop as well. Could have done with more MCs for balance though.

I like the Chase & Status album a lot more than this one, but this one's good
― deX! (DJP), Thursday, 21 November 2013 14:56 (eleven years ago)
So yeah this Rudimental album is pretty good but suffers a bit from favouring jump-up Britsoul almost entirely over MCs (Angel Haze excepted), so while there's loads of great stuff on there the overall effect is a bit Grange Hill rave. Also TWO tracks featuring Emeli Sande ffs, as if there's a human being alive on the planet right now that is suffering from insufficient Emeli Sande in their life.
The best tracks are fantastic but I dunno, needs a bit more ruff to go with the smooth. Basically what I am getting at is 'why have you forsaken Shantie?' ;_;

Still hold with this more or less, although I've come round to more of it. Lose 'Hide' and 'Powerless' and the two Sande tracks and you've a really good, if short, album.

It never even occurred to me to actually buy this album despite loving them to bits, and despite its cover being a very familiar sight from my own actual real life
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 21 November 2013 16:08 (eleven years ago)
Glad you started this. Some of the tracks from the album have been slow growers for me.

I don't know if the two are valid comparisons, but I started out being super stoked for Disclosure's album (and I still love it), but I think at this point, I like Rudimental's album even more, despite it being way more patchy than the former.

"baby" is my track of the year

This is a good album that I have a hard time caring about? Like the couple times I've thrown it on I've thoroughly enjoyed it, but I just never think about it at all.

i only listen to "baby" and "spoons" tbh... other stuff is a bit extra to me
― le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 21 November 2013 17:09 (eleven years ago)
well, for me*
A couple of my favorites involve radically different remixes by other people: Kidnap Kid's take on "Waiting All Night" and "Hell Could Freeze" Skream mix (which I find I get sick of periodically and then suddenly it sounds great again).
(I openly admit I only know about any of this thanks to ILM.)

(&/or aticles written by ILM posters.)
― _Rudipherous_, Thursday, 21 November 2013 17:14 (eleven years ago)
xp yeah, if the album was full of songs like "Spoons" and "Baby", not even sure if anyone would be talking about Disclosure.
― Murgatroid, Thursday, 21 November 2013 17:14 (eleven years ago)
This is still my #1 jam and there was a weird period where I didn't realize they'd blown up in the UK and was like "people keep referencing that act that had a minor UK funky joint a few years back?!"

But it's actually the boshing drum and bass ones that have cemented their popularity in the UK - Feel The Love and Waiting All Night were both massive and completely ubiquitous.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 21 November 2013 17:19 (eleven years ago)
Baby is the absolute best though.
Feel the Love and Waiting All Night have seriously become sign o' the times signifiers already for me, like it'll show up in some future Scorcese-esque joint in 20 years time and it'll be this mainline jolt to the brain.
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 21 November 2013 17:24 (eleven years ago)
Hell Could Freeze (OG and Skream versions) is my favourite but that may be down just to my abiding love of Angel Haze.
