I've lurked this board for far too long. Voting for "Personal Jesus", though "Crash" is a close second.

Might be the only person to rep for the Smithereens. It's close between them and "Personal Jesus," but that'll probably win without any help from me.

Never heard this before but my god if this isn't the worst rip of Subterranean Homesick Blues I've ever heard. Really a lovely cut by 10,000 Maniacs as well.

I could probably vote for The Primitives, The Pixies or Depeche Mode and be happy. Today I'll go for 'Personal Jesus'. A few years ago I was cycling through with some friends and stumbled across a Depeche Mode concert in a town square we were passing which was an unexpected treat.

I like the Smithereens too, but man, they were even dad-rock back in the day. Appearing on the modern tracks chart is a bit broad.

are the Waterboys an ILM fave? that's the only song i know by them, and i was semi-surprised when i was the first person in the thread to say anything nice about it and then only one other person also said something. had no idea it'd win.

Those "whooops" or "woooos" (or whatever they are) cannot be denied.

a lot of the Waterboys is reasonably meh imo but that song is ultra-classic and i was one of the voters for it
