They were no Bubblegum Splash, although I think the singer was perhaps even less in tune.
They did a great cover of Ask Johnny Dee by the Chesterfields.

Not quite fair to compare them unfavourably to Bubblegum Splash. The first couple of singles/flexidisc were quite inept, yes but the songwriting was quite good at times. The vocals were not strong it is true. And I think those were the ones that got most exposure. After they left Subway there was the "Sympathy for the Rosehips" EP which does a good job of elevating them above the other indie-pop also-rans of the period. Bloodstained Fur is quite good too. With the Farsifa organ sound, the aggressive/punky political sound you could make an case that these last couple of records anticipated the next wave of girl-fronted indie bands like Mambo Taxi, Huggy Bear & the Voodoo Queens.
