Realistically, what's the minimum you'd accept to sit through all the Oasis + Beady Eye + High Flying Birds albums in consecutive order?

how many hours-ish are we talking here? i'd probably do it for £25-£30 p/h

I can imagine this would take probably a full day of your time, so you'd be stuck at home. You can read, eat, do idle chores etc, but you'd have to have it at audible listening volume for the duration.

If you work you'd have to book the day off as holiday, obviously, so factor that in.

went for £301-£500, wd probably do it for a round 300 but wanted some negotiation room

yeah i think about £300 minimum to make it worth my while. It would probably be like doing a temp job that gets more and more gruelling throughout the day.

Fairly light day working from home, so I've gone 201-300. Lowballing for ten hours but maybe I can pitch an article about it somewhere. Feeling like I might have undervalued myself though, looking at last two answers.

I have to listen to fucking Steve Wright talking for three, four hours most afternoons, such as this one right now. never once been as pissed off listening to Oasis or related produce as he makes me. I'll do it for £50 np

not sure whether to introduce a caveat that says you can't work or turn it into a money-making venture. You do have to be sitting there and pretty much concentrating on the music to a necessary degree. Not sure if getting intoxicating is cheating or not.

Would do it for £750 - fifty quid for beer and pizza and a decent book, the rest on the best pair of ear defenders that money can buy.

I have done a lot worse for a living than getting paid to listen to shite music, if I am honest you could probably negotiate me down to a tenner!

Never heard of Beady Eye or High Flying Birds but if they are anything like Oasis it wouldn't be too horrible (at least until the 9th hour or so). $400 or so would get my attention.

i think you might be underestimating the subsequent medical costs of stabbing yourself in the ears with a pencil at the start of the session

Actually this would be at least be an 8 hr listening session so my rock bottom rate would be Eighty quid. Sure it would be a tough shift, but I once worked on a site where this real shithead plumber had his ipod hooked up to his Dewalt ghetto blaster and for 8 weeks I heard a lot of Oasis. I pleaded with him one day to give it a rest and he put on an Ian Brown solo album, it wasn't just Oasis but it was a real bunch of crap and he was inflicting on us all for 8 weeks. It's tough dealing with this crap in the workplace when you are under pressure to finish a job on schedule, but just getting paid to listen to it = fair do's.

Oh god, even as a U.S. person that owns 80% of this material anyway, I'd still need at least $500 to sit through all of this in one listening session.

i think if i didn't have to take a day off work and it was cash in hand i cd probably go somewhere between 100 and 150 but i say this having never knowingly heard the spin-off groups

Estimated £301-£500. Honestly I could see myself doing it for a bit less if pushed, but I live in an expensive city and jesus god the electricity bill came and it was huge and I'm so very very cold...

After a while your brain would just filter it out, surely, like you do with the central heating or whatever?

I think if I was going to something like this I would rather it be with a band I'm pretty indifferent to like Oasis that with music I actually liked, feel like that would be more stressful/tiring. Oasis would be kind of perfect to be honest, I don't like them but I don't generally feelannoyed or upset by there music when I hear them.

Has anyone else heard that record the residents put out that documents a pre-fame Penn from Penn and Teller supposedly being locked in a room for a weekend and being made to listen to the entire Residents/Ralph Records back catalogue?

Oh yes, the whole thing is very obviously 'in character', I think it might have been more entertaining if they had done it in a more low key fashion.

I like 'Roll To Me' by Del Amitri, but I think that would be an unpleasant song to listen to on repeat for 8 hours.

if this is supposed to be the most trying music then there is a lot worse than oasis, whose depravity is more ideological than purely aesthetic, as someone said of them before oasis are, like spacemen 3 or acen or lee perry, designed to facillitate the experience of drugtaking, in this instance to capture the vaguely euphoric experience of being mildly drunk on cheap lager, enraptured by swirling imprecisely 'psychedelic' guitars, leering simian feelgood mantras, nothing too obtrusive from the rhythm section

their music is much more easily consigned to the background than 2000s landfill indie withs its inistent shoutiness, protooled percussion, scratchy guitars mixed so high they verge on digital clipping etc

Went for about 300 - min wage is 6.50 an hour and there's about 30 hrs or so of music here, right – or have I made a horrible mistake

I see listening to this corpus as 'work' – no bad in itself so long as you're getting paid for it, but woe betide me if it crosses into my leisure time
