― lag∞n, Tuesday, 10 December 2013 18:43 (eleven years ago)
hahaha pow pow pow to end it
a couple of these were a touch "just reviewing the artist" but prob better than it had any right to be, way funnier than vice, much-needed corrective to the consensus etc
>:( that dawn richard can't even get into this though >:(

― lag∞n, Tuesday, 10 December 2013 18:48 (eleven years ago)

Tweens gone bad who’ll corner you at parties and talk extensively about how Edward Snowden proves they were right all along.
― lex pretend, Tuesday, 10 December 2013 18:51 (eleven years ago)
From the albums selected I think I am Jeff Koons - a tween gone bad who likes listening to hardcore and pop music while wearing flowing ’70s full-length summer dresses.
― Ramnaresh Samhain (ShariVari), Tuesday, 10 December 2013 18:51 (eleven years ago)

Intense, hollow-eyed girls who should have office jobs and still subscribe to The Wire, but don't.
― Tip from Tae Kwon Do: (crüt), Tuesday, 10 December 2013 18:56 (eleven years ago)
I'm a conspiracy theorist who should remember the 90s but can't :D
― veneer timber (imago), Tuesday, 10 December 2013 18:57 (eleven years ago)
Well-off 30-something in a black cloak who majors in arguing about music in the toilet at parties while doing psychedelics to The Wire
― mh, Tuesday, 10 December 2013 18:58 (eleven years ago)
Studious gender studies majors who'll corner you at parties and talk extensively about how the pills used to be better than their intimidating knowledge of tea

― lag∞n, Tuesday, 10 December 2013 19:04 (eleven years ago)
My likely top five or so aren't in there, but out of the ones that will probably make an appearance, I am:
A hollow-eyed music major in a black cloak who used to subscribe to the Wire (and will again).
Pretty much right. I should relisten to Boards of Canada, though, because I love me a brown cardigan.
― emil.y, Tuesday, 10 December 2013 19:06 (eleven years ago)
I haven't heard Haxan Cloak yet so I was probably too hasty before.
― Tip from Tae Kwon Do: (crüt), Tuesday, 10 December 2013 19:09 (eleven years ago)

Actually I'm not even sure if the Oneohtrix/Hecker albums will be in my list, I didn't really listen to them much this year. I think I got disheartened by none of my favourites being in there and grabbed at things that are 'my sort of thing' instead. Pharmakon/Holter/Haxan Cloak will be, though.
xxp hehehe listicle sounds like testicle hehehe
― emil.y, Tuesday, 10 December 2013 19:12 (eleven years ago)
Tweens gone bad.

― lex pretend, Tuesday, 10 December 2013 19:27 (eleven years ago)
my two choices are probably both top 10 in my *actual* list, almost surprised there's that much overlap
― veneer timber (imago), Tuesday, 10 December 2013 19:30 (eleven years ago)
So, according to this I'm:
Well-groomed, stylish fashion industry girl under 25 who has stock portfolios, manages to make things like suspenders look cool and I own more dress shirts than T-shirts and several of those flowing ’70s full-length summer dresses.
This is a lie. I don't make suspenders look cool.

favorites aren't on the list, but...
Musical Gender Studies major, benevolent but also genuinely terrifying, spinning conspiracy theories on several psychedelics (having let my wire subscription lapse).

in the spirit of reductivity i think we shd come up with trite demographic descriptors for other plausible #1 albumz
eg hookworms - pearl mystic - www.drownedinsound.com
― veneer timber (imago), Tuesday, 10 December 2013 20:29 (eleven years ago)
deafheaven - sunbather - bros who stopped listening to metal in about 2004 but kinda miss it
― veneer timber (imago), Tuesday, 10 December 2013 20:30 (eleven years ago)
we should put the websites after the #1 albums that were on those websites' eoy lists, burn
― From the Album No Baby for You! (Matt P), Tuesday, 10 December 2013 20:33 (eleven years ago)

i give $5 to the person who takes all of these descriptors and makes complete sentences out of them, así
Creepy smooth-talking bros who refer to women as “ladies.” shop for their dinners after work. People who will admit with a little sympathetic prompting that, no, they didn’t realize Charli XCX wasn’t in the band tend to enjoy long walks on the beach.
― mambo jumbo (La Lechera), Wednesday, 11 December 2013 00:32 (eleven years ago)
Dudes who are too young to remember the ’90s but are totally sure that was the time they should have been alive frequently send gifts to their mothers.
anything goes -- I'm just looking at sentence structure
