Any And Also The Trees experts out there? Where's the best album to start? Or better yet, what album by AATT do you listen to most?

The Millpond Years

flowersdie (flowersdie), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 08:45 (twenty-three years ago)

i've been listening to Virus Meadow-the guitars are very Cocteau-Twins.

kephm, Wednesday, 22 September 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm partial to Farewell to the Shade and Green is the Sea for the classic AatT sound; The Klaxon is still first and finest hour of their Lynchian road-movie OST overhaul.

echoinggrove (echoinggrove), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

OST?

kephm, Wednesday, 22 September 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

original soundtrack. ish.

How weird I missed this thread first time through. Pretty big fan and I'll spare you the direct links but the All Music Guide entries are mostly my reviews. Echoinggrove pretty well nails it in terms of their strongest work.

great, thanks!

"Rupert lies on a bed..."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 22 February 2006 21:15 (nineteen years ago)

Prince Rupert! I love that song.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 22 February 2006 21:20 (nineteen years ago)

Great song, great way to start an album (to which I listen right this second). Even if they had only ever done Farewell to the Shade that would be enough.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 22 February 2006 21:21 (nineteen years ago)

so, did dude from aatt really make a rekkerd with a dude from the young gods? confirm or deny. i read that somewhere. (i know it wasn't franz from young gods. that much i remember.)

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 22 February 2006 21:27 (nineteen years ago)

Hmmm...that only vaguely rings a bell, but I wouldn't rule it out.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 22 February 2006 21:28 (nineteen years ago)

Ah, looks like you're right:

Simon writing with Bernard Trontin of The Young Gods is moving closer to completion. A live premiere had been at a film festival in Geneva in September.

country matters, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 01:07 (sixteen years ago)

i mean, i've been listening to them on youtube for about 45 minutes now and i haven't heard anything that falls anything short of deeply arresting

country matters, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 01:11 (sixteen years ago)

I quite liked their americana make-over

Converting some old B-sides on tape I have around here. Apparently the last couple of albums have been pretty good...

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 5 December 2009 06:34 (fifteen years ago)

been listening to Virus Meadow again. still have to learn how to use that vinyl-to-mp3 recording equimpent I got for Christmas last year so I can listen to this in my car.

Dan S, Saturday, 5 December 2009 07:00 (fifteen years ago)

I have Farewell to the Shade but I really want to get Virus Meadow.

are And Also The Trees STEEMPUNK?

pash rules everything around me (Curt1s Stephens), Saturday, 5 December 2009 07:11 (fifteen years ago)

Holy crap. I used to have a song or 2 by this band on some mixtapes, yeeeeears ago (mid 80s). I think theyre long gone now. I'd forgotten all about them.

So we don't care much about these guys do we?
I'd forgotten about them but it seems they'll be supporting The Cure for their upcoming xmas shows, just like the good old days.
I could never stand the OTT-ness of their first phase but the Lynchian period had its charms (tho Tindesrticks seemed to have already covered a lot fo the same ground). I don't know where these guys are at right now.

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Thursday, 13 November 2014 13:40 (ten years ago)

Definitely need to do some catching up on my end. Friend of mine has tickets to the Cure/AATT show and I'll be interested in her take on them both.
