Flipping through the latest issue of Uncut to hit States-side (Neil Young on the cover), I ran accross Marcello's review of Wallpaper, which claimed it was Say You Will's only contender thus far for album of the year (actually, there was another, but I forget who... Marcello?), and figgered "aw, what the heck." Probably the first CD I've bought without hearing it first in well over a year (still haven't got around to shelling out money for SYW). I'd forgotten what a cool experience it is to unwrap the thing and put it in the cd player without really knowing what to expect. And maybe that has something to do with my enjoying the thing so damn much (that and the little voice in the back of my head saying "you paid 16 bucks for the damn thing, you BETTER like it"). Not sure what else to say on the subject. But I would like to see some of the more critically capable of the ILM massive drool/shit all over the CD that I've had on repeat for the last 4 hours.

Well?

tahiti 80 are strangely underappreciated around here. Let's talk about them some more. '1000 Times' and 'Get Yourself Together' are early favourites off of the second album.

I really love the opening 3 tracks of Piece of Sunshine(?). I vaguely remember liking the rest too, but "Listen" was so insanely catchy that it kind of dwarfed everything that came after. Fun stuff!

I think I have a live cover of them doing A.R. Kane's "A Love From Outer Space"

It might not be live, though...but my friend Sabrina recorded it for me off of Fm4 in Austria. Actually, I think she might've recorded two versions of it, one being live. I need to check her mixtapes...

Fosbury: the faux "hip-hop direction" had me a little worried, and "Changes" was a weak song to have make the rounds. But a week after finally getting the album, I have to say it has been a pleasant surprise. "Cherry pie" is excellent.

I love "Changes" -- I guess I should hear the rest, then, hmmm?

The Booka Shade remix of Big Day was hot, but I know nothing more.

love these guys...and apart from the moniker (Axe Riverboy), LP title (From Tutu To Tango) and cover photo, the Xavier Boyer solo release from last year was really great, and greatly ignored...
