The only overlap with mine own list is The Knife and Janelle Monae (OK, Savages and Disclosure were both on my long-list, but not that high.) But of those two, I guess probably Janelle.

I did a jazz list and a metal list - had I done an all-genres list, Savages would have been on it for sure. (It's also one of only 3 albums out of that 25 that I've even heard, so.)

I'm convinced there are certain things pfork purposely doesn't cover. I have theories, but to avoid sounding like too much of a cynic or conspiracy theorist, I'll keep them to myself.

yeah i mean, if you're a major label rock band who PF didn't cover before you were big, good luck. especially if you came up on the Alternative Press/Warped Tour circuit. it was on several of the writers' individual ballots, though.

Paramore don't have enough crossover into the PF demographic.

I find it rather strange that we live in a an age where Ariana Grande apparently has more crossover into the PF demographic than Paramore do.

only because her haunted, nuanced portrayal of a troubled teenager on sam and cat has won her such a widespread following.

i was (probably naïvely) under the impression the p4k albums list was just some weighted amalgamation of all the staff ballots, but there's stuff in the top 50 (the range, mutual benefit) that isn't on any staff list, and yet paramore is on quite a few and has been left off. i guess i shouldn't be surprised.

i don't really know or care how the list was done but i kind of assumed that a) not every staff list was counted and b) they voted beyond just the top 10s that were listed.
