VENIET IMBER (imago), Wednesday, 25 December 2013 09:06 (eleven years ago)

The only overlap with mine own list is The Knife and Janelle Monae (OK, Savages and Disclosure were both on my long-list, but not that high.) But of those two, I guess probably Janelle.

MU-MU is and is not a theorem of the JAM-System (Branwell Bell), Wednesday, 25 December 2013 09:56 (eleven years ago)

Savages still feels like too much pastiche for me to take it seriously.

Hinklepicker, Wednesday, 25 December 2013 18:48 (eleven years ago)

none of the pitchfork 25 are in my top 10 - bleh

bodacious ignoramus, Wednesday, 25 December 2013 18:50 (eleven years ago)

I did a jazz list and a metal list - had I done an all-genres list, Savages would have been on it for sure. (It's also one of only 3 albums out of that 25 that I've even heard, so.)

Humorist (horse) (誤訳侮辱), Wednesday, 25 December 2013 20:44 (eleven years ago)

i voted janelle, second place would be oneohtrix.

k3vin k., Thursday, 26 December 2013 02:06 (eleven years ago)

Wonder why Pitchfork didn't pick up on Paramore. They didn't even review the singles.

jmm, Thursday, 26 December 2013 02:16 (eleven years ago)

I'm convinced there are certain things pfork purposely doesn't cover. I have theories, but to avoid sounding like too much of a cynic or conspiracy theorist, I'll keep them to myself.

Austin, Friday, 27 December 2013 16:26 (eleven years ago)

christ I have not heard one of these ,fml

frogbs, Friday, 27 December 2013 16:30 (eleven years ago)

i don't think it's anything to do with a conspiracy, it's pretty obvious xp

lex pretend, Friday, 27 December 2013 16:38 (eleven years ago)

yeah i mean, if you're a major label rock band who PF didn't cover before you were big, good luck. especially if you came up on the Alternative Press/Warped Tour circuit. it was on several of the writers' individual ballots, though.

Ella Maria Finally Rich-O'Connor (some dude), Friday, 27 December 2013 18:40 (eleven years ago)

Paramore don't have enough crossover into the PF demographic.

Evan, Friday, 27 December 2013 18:42 (eleven years ago)

Bill Callahan needs more votes.

BlackIronPrison, Friday, 27 December 2013 18:46 (eleven years ago)

Jai Paul over Disclosure.

Alfre, Lord Woodard (Eric H.), Friday, 27 December 2013 18:48 (eleven years ago)

I find it rather strange that we live in a an age where Ariana Grande apparently has more crossover into the PF demographic than Paramore do.

MarkoP, Friday, 27 December 2013 19:25 (eleven years ago)

only because her haunted, nuanced portrayal of a troubled teenager on sam and cat has won her such a widespread following.

Daniel, Esq 2, Friday, 27 December 2013 19:29 (eleven years ago)

i was (probably naïvely) under the impression the p4k albums list was just some weighted amalgamation of all the staff ballots, but there's stuff in the top 50 (the range, mutual benefit) that isn't on any staff list, and yet paramore is on quite a few and has been left off. i guess i shouldn't be surprised.

prolego, Friday, 27 December 2013 19:40 (eleven years ago)

brand positioning b4 anything

lex pretend, Friday, 27 December 2013 19:41 (eleven years ago)

i don't really know or care how the list was done but i kind of assumed that a) not every staff list was counted and b) they voted beyond just the top 10s that were listed.

Ella Maria Finally Rich-O'Connor (some dude), Friday, 27 December 2013 19:51 (eleven years ago)

mvotc

i also enjoy in line skateing (spazzmatazz), Friday, 27 December 2013 20:30 (eleven years ago)

Kurt Vile or Daft Punk

jaymc, Friday, 27 December 2013 20:40 (eleven years ago)

For vote aggregation purposes ending up on ten top 20 lists means more than ending up on three top 10 lists.

Tim F, Friday, 27 December 2013 21:23 (eleven years ago)

Bill C and Rashad would be in my personal top ten

Number None, Friday, 27 December 2013 21:29 (eleven years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.
