The procedure is simple: enter your tracks and album ballots (up to 25 items on each), one item per line, in the appropriate fields below. You can choose one of three ballot types, which determine how points are allocated to each item you vote for:

(1) Weighted: The first item on your ballot receives 50 points, the second receives 48 points, and so on, until the 25th item receives 2 points.

(2) Unweighted: Each item on your ballot receives 26 points.

(3) Mixed: To submit a mixed ballot, you must divide your ballot in two with an extra blank line. The upper portion of the ballot will be treated as weighted, with the first item receiving 50 points, and so on. The lower portion will be treated as unweighted, in that all items will receive the same number of points. The score allocated to items in the unweighted portion is calculated as 26 minus the number of items in the weighted portion (this is so that any weighted, unweighted or mixed ballot consisting of 25 items will allocate a total of exactly 650 points).

Use this thread to ask questions about the voting procedure, announce to the world that you have exercised your franchise and remind/motivate/shame others who haven't voted yet. yeah always ignored these and rolled my eyes at them in the past (i mean really by this point enough lists already) but then actually looking at last years it was more fun and useful than some other year end lists so why not

Over the past 2 years I'd say I discovered more music (and with more fun) with the 2011 and 2012 ilxor polls than anything in the press, friends or record shops. It's kind of a honor to be participating this year.

That took way longer than I expected, because I had to cut so many of my favorite tracks, and I also listened to/liked way less albums this year than I thought. Anyway, I have V O T E D.

tracks was really hard, i whittled down my longlist on new year's day and was pretty shocked at how many tracks i love that i had to cut

albums was easy b/c i don't listen to that many and the number that i truly love at the end of any given yr is small

yo i noticed that Imaginational Anthem 4 was nominated and that must have been a mistake, wasn't it released in 2010? maybe the nominator meant "Imaginational Anthem v 6 : Origins of American Primitive Guitar" or perhaps the imaginational anthem vol 1-5 compilation box set released this year?

totally. 25 is perfect for albums, by then i'm pretty much deciding between various albums that are worthy of being heard and discussed but not top-tier by any means. 25 is nowhere near enough for trax but i'm grateful for that many, given how many publications habitually ask for top 10s, which is just a stupidly tiny amount to cut it down to
