Weird mix of autumnal themes and random stuff.

Some of the blurbs on the outliers are a little amusing.

"You Shook Me All Night Long"
AC/DC (1980):
From the album
Back in Black, this is a song about … well, if I have to explain what it’s about, being over 50 still holds a big surprise for you!

There's a man with a gun over there,/Trying to take away my Medicare.

I mean, I chiefly associate “You Shook Me All Night Long” with Dale Winton playing it on Pick Of The Pops, announcing the title and then saying: “Thank you, boys.”

Happy 50th

This list is even dumber than these lists usually are

If you never got into rap, listen to these words, some taken from an arrangement of Stevie Wonder's "Pastime Paradise," all speaking of the desperate sadness of lifelong badness.

Afrika Bambaataa is now 56.

am not sure if I own Ms Warwick's "A House Is Not a Home," I know I have the Brook Benton version on the Burt box.

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Monday, 27 January 2014 17:33 (eleven years ago)

I can't vote for any of these, all the songs have fucked off to Minneapolis, are spinning around and throwing their hats into the air. But I am glad for the reminder that I can qualify for my own AARP membership now.

The Warwick version is moving - the way she really tears into the chorus.

More pertinently, I'm not American or a hippy

"C'est La Vie" is an alternate title for "You Never Can Tell" by Chuck Berry. Great song. I'm pretty sure you must have heard "Landslide," that's Fleetwood Mac, though, not Stevie solo.

I voted George Jones.

burbbhrbhbbhbburbbbryan ferry (Dan Peterson), Thursday, 6 February 2014 19:15 (eleven years ago)

Oh right, I know "C'est La Vie", but not by Emmylou Harris. Never knowingly heard "Landslide"... what album's it on? Self-titled... never heard that album... but then I don't think I've ever heard "Rumours" all the way through either.
