their white album, at least their most beagles-esque…god i love this album. one of the epics will win but everything in between is so wonderful…today i'll say "Sometimes I Don't Get You," but how can I neglect "The Weakest Part"?

"The Race Is on Again."

beagles-esque? think that's a basset hound on the back cover...
but kidding aside, hmm, their best album? dunno about that.
would probably go with "hatchet"

Pass the Hatchet is a killer, but I voted Black Flowers. I just love that song.
Other days it could be the Race is on Again or The room got heavy. Basically the first LP, which is the one I end up playing the most...

reviewed this long ago...the last album of theirs I liked.

Voted Room Got Heavy based on nothing more than instinct. Not listened in a while. Always thought it was about three songs too long and that those songs were all in a row during the second half. First 8 or 9 are faultless though.

Voted Yo La Tango but it could have been The Weakest Part on a different day.

Still bummed that I didn't see them live when they toured this album.

A fabulous show, almost three hours.

Best song on here is Black Flowers-but best Yo La Tengo song is Pass The Hatchet. if that makes sense.
I went Black Flowers in any case.

yo la tengo's best? you must be joking. electropura beats the ass out of this shit. i'd say it's the last album by them which was listenable/worth buying. best song is obviously "black flowers". songs with james as lead singer are by default great.

it's the distortion, stupid! (alex in mainhattan), Wednesday, 9 April 2014 17:27 (eleven years ago)

this album is "pass the hatchet..." with a load of b-sides, it looms over the thing like Christ the Redeemer

At a concert, a strong, tall, bearded dude with a leather jacket pushed everyone to get to the front ang gave a piece of paper to Ira. Ira read 'I'm on a honeymoon with my wife, she would love to hear Mr Tough'. They played Mr Tough.

Mr Tough it is.
