ILX favourite albums of all time nominations and ting open until April 1st

This is the nominations thread. Any albums, any genres, any era. The usual minimum of 5, maximum of 100. They can all be by the same artist if you like.

Nominations are open until April 1st (no, this is not a joke) and voting will commence sometime after that and last about four weeks.

This is my first one of these poll thingies. Why? Because I'm planning something similar for people outside ILX (and inside ILX too) soon and maybe they can run together somehow. Plus it's crazy that we've not done this in 13 years; the cohort of the forums has changed massively and the results should be interesting.

Obviously, as implicit in the title, this is about FAVOURITE, not BEST. Attempts at objectivity are only cheating yourself, and cheating the poll too.

And please, god, no Neutral fucking Milk Hotel.

are we acstually doing this

ciderpress, Thursday, 13 February 2014 20:59 (eleven years ago)

yes

I would imagine results will be very different from the original poll - ILM Top 100 Records -- The Full List

Would expect to see more rap/dance etc and would hope to see some jazz/rnb/metal/country and a fair few other things that aren't just the usual token entries.

only gonna count stuff that may actually get votes:

NO NO NO

its to be a personal FAVOURITES list of up to 100 on the voting form. If no ones heard your 100 faves that doesnt matter. Otherwise you get a boring list.

the idea of favourites instead of best ever is to encourage that

۩, Thursday, 13 February 2014 21:44 (eleven years ago)

If nick wants to put the embrace albums at the top of the list he can even though no one else in their right mind would ;)

It's either "nominate your favorites" or it's "nominate your favorites and then I'm gonna throw in some stuff no one nominated". And that's counter to the spirit of the poll imo.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 13 February 2014 22:02 (eleven years ago)

Don't micromanage us is what I'm saying. We're adults. If something gets left out, then something gets left out and we'll cope.

I dunno when it is going to be held but its unlikely nick is going to wait for 2 years because then the half-decade polls etc will need to wait too (unless stet/mods insist all polls must join that queue.) but that is for the other thread not here!

۩, Saturday, 15 February 2014 22:06 (eleven years ago)

but a good point about at least a good few months or more of listening time.

۩, Saturday, 15 February 2014 22:06 (eleven years ago)

it's not stet or mods or anybody forcing anybody to wait their turn to do polls, and i doubt it ever would be. it's just a bunch of people, really all but a couple people, who are choosing to be polite and submit to an agreed upon system.

ignore the nominations closing date date. Poll still aint happening. It was postponed because it clashed with the classic rock poll .

I dont think anyone has time or inclination to run this in the near future but if it does run later this year or next year (or after that if forced to join the queue) the nominations will still be safe so keep nominating but just realise it could be a good while until it nicks ready to run it.
