Still waiting for the download to arrive, but very excited for the remixes/rarities. Not sure what they'll include, but a lot of those Buhloone Mindstate/Stakes is High-era remixes were essentially new songs with different verses

i don't have any de la in my itunes because the bits and bobs i did have were lost in a hard drive crash a couple of years ago, but i didn't have their complete discography in the first place because they were before my time and i hadn't got round to it, so i'm very grateful that they've done this

assuming their dropbox goes back up, anyway

I don't have any of them on iTunes, and I only owned Stakes Is High on vinyl, so now I can burn that one. And I lost most of the rarities I downloaded from Napster ages ago, so it'll be great to hear some of them again.

Any excuse to revisit this group is worth celebrating imo

I've got the first three but yeah curious about the rarities. The vinyl copy I had of De La Soul is Dead is possibly the worst vinyl pressing I have ever heard - ends of songs chopped, low volume, tons of surface noise etc. unbelievably shitty.

Did De La Soul is Dead ever get a good, extravagant CD reissue and remaster? Seems like it's begging for one.

I managed to get my hands on the rarities, thankfully. Looking forward to listening to them (greatest hits seems a bit odd, but w/e).

Listened to both De La Soul is Dead and Buhloone Mindstate for the first time last night. Holy cow, this was/is a really great group. 3 Feet High and Rising seems to have grabbed most of the commercial and critical glory, but Dead seems to be my favourite of them (albeit after just one listen).

De La Soul is Dead is probably in my top five favorite albums of all time.

Still no link and it's been almost 24 hours so I jumped out of bed at 9:58, two minutes before the deadline, and signed up with my Hotmail account. Let's see what happens.

If you do torrents, Pirate Bay had the complete discography at 320k, and it's well seeded. Doesn't have this rarities set though (which no one has actually downloaded yet?)

The VERY FIRST THING you should think after "We are going to release a bunch of MP3's on the internet" is "Let's open them in some sort of software application to make sure that they are tagged properly"

yeah .. took me a while to 'find' it in my listing ('unknown album')

once i did though it was easy to get it sucked in with all the tags.

i know all you folks go nowhere near zune, but it does the job ..

good thing I heard about the lack of tagging ahead of time. managed to put the album straight into my purchased section (which is where my ipod syncs) and tag it from there. still a long process and yeah, if you're gonna release all this stuff, take the ten minutes to make sure it's tagged!

Sorry dudes, just got a message from Dropbox saying the public links have been nuked for excessive traffic.

Just got all the links (although I only asked for a couple) 36 hours after getting the confirmation email. I guess they've had a few problems. Anyway, result!

Many years ago, I heard of a 'remix' album around the time of three feet but never tracked it down. I did get a remix 12" of 'tread water' that had too many DeLaSoul snippets to be a bootleg. Flying recods.

About a year ago, I remembered about it and tracked it down via Discogs, and it's a double LP (or CD woth fewer tracks) again on Flying.

They must have signed a distrib deal ahead of the one they signed with BigLife.

Big Life licensed the record from Tommy Boy, they didn't distribute import stock. Flying were an Italian label, who presumably signed their own licensing deal, not distribution, as evidenced by your records being specific to Flying.
