Yeah have no idea why they're not going with 'Crush', which is the obvs single imo.

'Come Back Home' is prob YG's most successful attempt yet at blending three different genres at once, but it's also less immediate. The unplugged version is ace though.

Just got to Happy, woah that was abrupt! The tracklisting up to CL's solo is great though, just like Roz said in the other thread. Happy sounds like it was airlifted in from another album, I know hidden tracks are passé but maybe it should've been a download-only bonus song or something.

'Scream' sounds so good in the context of this album, I was never a fan of it as a single

'Come Back Home' is the name of a Seo Taiji and Boys song, 2NE1's company's CEO's old group. I don't want to think that's why it was chosen as the single, but...

(Well, that and the fact that 2NE1 is still YG composer Teddy's project group, and he produced 'Come Back Home' as well as second single 'Gotta Be You')

Ahhhh that was so satisfying. Minzy for slow-song languid verses and Park Bom for fast-song anthemic choruses forever, maybe in the future they can just split them up.

I don't think the tracklisting recovers after Happy, but 'Scream' and the unplugged 'Come Back Home' are both awesome. 3rd CL track 'Baby I Miss You' is marginal, the rest of the album is ace, I like "Good to You" (착한 여자) a lot.

Okay Soundcloud's looping through the second half of the album again, when you start from 'Good To You' and proceed from there 'Happy' fits perfectly, that + Scream are so great at conveying that feeling of being more happy than you want to be against your will.

Final verdict: out your favorite slow acoustic song after 'If I Were You', take 'Baby I Miss You' out and then play the album ON LOOP FOREVER

Wikipedia says this was originally set for release in 2012 (!) which totally makes sense since 'Crush' totally sounds like it was left off the second EP

It is true that while the album sounds good and is addictively produced, the songs leave your head quite quickly when they're not playing, apart from maybe the first two tracks. But maybe that's because I haven't listened enough.

This album is pretty great - I wish it had "I Love You" on it, though. When 2NE1 played Newark, that video was shown on the big screens pre-show and the crowd just went berserk.

Right now I'm wishing they'd put "Missing You" between "If I Were You" (살아 봤으면 해) and "Good To You" (착한 여자), and I didn't even like tahat song when it came out. But it fits there so well.

The 'Happy' vid is great, a very '2NE1' vid

I love the 'Come Back Home' vid, it's a glom of every dystopic sci fi movie out there - the shot of the pearls and the yellow grapes, spraypainting the white uniforms, the popstep interlude meant to depict the best visualization of cyberspace since, well, I can't think of a movie that has really been good at depicting at cyberspace - I want there to be a full length movie or at least a short film

'Happy' represents exactly the sunsoaked bleached out day that you only ever get like once a year on the solar equinox. Gives me chills, the postprocessing was perfectly executed

Maybe it's because I'm home sick with a cold, but I'm not really feeling either of these MVs...

Happy is kinda boring, just a random bunch of shots of them walking around empty streets modeling J. Scott clothes (with the man himself appearing at 3:14 and 3:20). They look cute but a bit hapless, like they aren't quite owning the outlandish outfits, and there's no trace of the passive-aggressive bitterness or bite of the song.

In the Come Back Home MV they again seem a bit overwhelmed or overshadowed by all the <i>stuff</i> going on in the video, plus the video as a whole is drab, incoherent and hard to follow... except maybe for the hallucinogenic 'cyberspace' parts .. if I think of the MV as having an anti-drug message it's a bit more interesting, but there's still the problem where reality doesn't seem to be very appealing so the exhortation to return to it doesn't have a lot of power (why would I??? why would anyone???). Plus the ending, where it turns out that 2NE1 didn't <i>really</i> start a revolution after all (only in their drugged-up dreams?), is super dis-empowering and dark. This video is the opposite of the 'badass sci-fi babes 2NE1' image we were getting from the teasers.

In other words it's too much powerlessness for me, especially with Bom's voice on the chorus. I think back to Ugly where they made wearing masks because you think you're too ugly for anyone to love you look cool and empowering, and I feel disappointed.

(It's still a good album though.)

Apparently the plot of the 2NE1 video was supposed to be that Dara didn't like her SO spending so much time in the virtual world, so 2NE1 go in Matrix-style and destroy it from the inside, become heroines to the spouses of League players everyones. Maybe I'm just perverse, but I can't say that I saw that at all...

Lately I've been thinking 'Crush' and the album as a whole are pretty weakly written, but the fanchants over the chorus breakdown in CBH improve it.

I think 'Crush' is great - did feel the rest of the album was weakly written at first, but the more I've listened to it, the more the songs have grown on me

@forapper, Happy still hasn't grown on me. It's the one I like the least and, actually, I think it's the weakest track on the album. Maybe it has to do with it being on such a different level and interrupts the flow with the album. I'm still really digging Good to You and Come Back Home.

Man, the Quran sample is unfortunate - or perhaps they are really fortunate that they can get away with it? - but it does sound amazing.

Had a lot of fun at their show yesterday. :) Lacked the manic chaos of a BigBang concert, but the girls more than made up for it in sheer spectacle and enthusiasm.

Highlights:
- Minzy's abs. Minzy in general.
- Flames and fireballs everywhere. They also ride Harleys, and sing while toting pink toy guns.
- I lost count of their costume changes.
- Crowd that mostly didn't speak Korean singing along to 'Missing You' and 'Lonely' <3
- CL sounded like she had a bit of a cold but was still a ball of energy onstage. They're all fairly strong singers though, which is clear during the ballads when they don't rely on background vocals.
- Bom attempting to headbang to a rock version of 'I Don't Care' is the most adorable thing in the world.
- During the encore, a big group of fans at the front brought out pink, heart-shaped balloons to mark 2NE1's 5th anniversary which I thought was sweet. K-pop fans are really cute that way.

(for forapper: Winner kids were great too! That Nam Taehyun is going to be a star. KSY was a bit off-key the whole time, but he seemed to be enjoying himself the most and Jinwoo's singing is much improved.)

When I saw Big Bang in the NY Metro area there was a lot of spectacle too, I actually found it a little offputting, like going to a basketball game (the show was at the Prudential Center where the Nets used to play). But I think if it was 2NE1 I wouldn't have minded <333

Love the vid, but it does feel like they blew the budget on the sci-fi romp (not saying it feels low-budget, more that it feels like they did more with less)

2NE1 were in Japan before, but because of the timing (Earthquake and nuclear meltdown) they never really made big inroads into the Japanese market. I'm sure all the Japanese Big Bang fans know who they are.

I hope this is for her US debut... CL coming back to Korea after the fuss about her American debut would be disappointing, CL debuting in America with support from her Korean label would be interesting. Sort of a reverse hallyu wave effect where Korean fans contribute to her US record sales.
