japandroids seem to tend to take romantic disappointment a bit more bitterly than japanther, but for both bands thoughts of love are thoroughly tied up with self-pity. in this respect they are fairly conventional.

japandroids i adore. they are sort of like the band someone would create if they were trying to design a band just for me: these guileless post-punk anthems about lost innocence and close male friendships. the appeal is just so obvious to me, i don't get why there aren't more bands like this. i mean, come on:
