Not sure I understand the murder charge though unless the suspect intentionally drove into the moped?

May have to do with fleeing the police.

Jesus. This is horrifying. Still hoping I see a few more friends check in via Twitter or Facebook before I can feel even a little bit better.

The Capital Murder thing has been nagging at me all morning though, and as far as I've seen, no news source has expounded on that any further. One name that will pop up soon will be Ethan Couch, the Texan kid who killed four people while drunk driving last year and got off with probation due to "affluenza".

My understanding is that Texas law allows for capital murder charges to be brought in any multiple murder single event, but it is up to the jurisdiction to decide whether to bring them or not. The prosecution in the Couch case chose not to do so.

My friend was there and is okay. I had a sinking feeling when I heard the news this morning and emailed everyone. When I couldn't reach him at home or work I got really worried but he phoned later. He was wired and disturbed because he was there and said it was just too close a call and kept saying he and his boyfriend could have died. Ugh, has left me feeling sick all day. When I first heard of a tragedy at SXSW I immediately thought a shooter. Been scared of shooters in a profound way since the PCL shooter at UT.
