I was watching something about Paul Oakenfold on d'telly recently and there was this sea of faces pressed up against the plexiglass of his DJ booth watching him spin his poxy records. WHY??!! There are some DJ's who elevate DJing/mixology into something special but isnt this reverence for DJ's getting out of hand? Maybe the dance media's promoted the DJ as rock star to combat rave cultures perceived 'facelessness' (raves 'facelessness' being one of its strengths). Do you think DJ's are lords of the dance or overpaid and over-rated?

As for putting your face to the plexiglass, those are trainspotters, basically wannabe DJ's studying technique (which makes it something like DJ-class 101) or boys who have an obssesion with collecting maxi's. Both classes of trainspotters are as boring as audiophiles.

There comes a time in every high caliber recording artist's career when they reach the landmark of their first DVD release. For the 8th biggest DJ in the world, that time is now.
