From 1976 onwards most of their best singles were dashed off.

it feels like they've forgotten about recording Hot Stuff half way through recording Hot Stuff

Thing is this is key to the greatness of post-Exile RS

yeah watching Charlie's stoic bemusement is the best part of all low-point Stones

I actually have a soft spot for this kind of stuff - but greatness might be a stretch

"Lies," "Crazy Mama," "Summer Romance," "Let Me Go" – all sound dashed off, all amazing.

Connotations of "phoned-in" and "dashed-off" are a fair bit different .

Currently reading Richards' book. I'm only up to 1969, though - about to get to Altamont tonight. Kinda hoping there's some discussion in the book's latter half of absurdly half-assed videos like the one above, as well as Mick's insane wardrobe.

Faces did dashed-off hangover boogie 10x better imho, Alfred, and Crazy Mama makes me feel like I have jetlag, but I've always loved Lies. Doesn't even feel dashed-off or phoned in at all - or at least, as you say, only in a good way. Summer Romance is a different category for me - great well-written song, half-assed performance.

was just listening to the 3rd "London Singles" disc on Sunday, definitely some contenders on there

New Bomb Turks version of "Summer Romance" is great, btw
